It's a personal choice but I actually like the Perlenbacher Pilsner that Lidl sell.
At 6.33 for 12 cans, I was happy.
Any other choices from Lidl or Aldi that people recommend?
Some more examples, the Freeman's Bay NZ Sav in Aldi is a really very nice for the price point, going up by a euro by the looks.

Does anyone know if there's cheap slabs in Aldi? Last year my local one had Bud and Guinness at 20 until near the end of January

I like a decent ale - never have seen any bottle I buy under €1.79. It's probably 20+ years since I drank lager. Guinness is something I drink in the pub
I think the lowest I've paid for a bottle of wine is €9. Valpocello Rispasso at 9.99 in Aldi is my go-to bottle. Its still 9.99 and a bargain at that too. Santa Rita would not be something I'd drink. I like a good whiskey, standard Jameson does not come into the reckoning for me, but I suspect many places will sell it at €22.10 - most of the year its €25+ anyway. I still reckon I'll get Bushmills 10 for €30 at different times of the year.

A lot of the wines I have bought on offer in the €5 to €6 range have been the equal of house wines in pubs/restaurants charging €20 to €23 a bottle.
Sounds about right for those rip-off merchants...

I don't usually comment on the taste or quality of drinks preferring to just post the price and let people try themselves but what the hell exceptional times and all that.
Does mup apply to wholesale or on licence sales? Is there any law against a shop keeper giving a slab to a loyal customer at Xmas if they spend a certain amount or via a Fr Ted style raffle?
AFAIK they don't pick from the local store which might explain why there is no stock in store but you can order for click and collect (from that same store).
They had a €5.99 pinot grigio rosé that I rated higher than rosés that were many multiples of that price

I’m relatively into my wines and I can tell ya that the €7 cote du rhone that aldi used to stock up until last year would outdo wines that were retailing at close to €100
Also litres of gin for €20 is something that we’ll look back on as a glorious time

Checked supervalu site , dunleary and deansgrange showed up as having 24 guinness. Nothing in store though

I think this thread will be of greater use from Tuesday as we will still be looking for bargains. There are plenty of products that are sold way above MUP and when on sale, will still come in above MUP.

Saw the new prices in Tesco earlier, nothing that I would buy has changed.
The cheap crap is gone and that can only be a good thing
The fact that the retailers will keep all of the increase was kept very quiet, they could have given it to a more deserving cause.
