Fire in Molesworth Street

The Masonic Lodge in Dublin was set on fire tonight. A man was injured.

Absolutely disgusting and shameful to see a lot of the far right like Angela Ray and Grand Torino celebrating it and cheering it on.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I don’t get the implication here, why is the far right anti-masonic? Thought the whole concept of freemasons etc. was something definitely belonging to the right wing spectrum of things?

I just reread the OP and looked up the Twitter account referenced. The account is at best unhinged, and frankly has a very small following. Easy to find any old idiot who aligns themselves with a certain political persuasion, and extrapolate that this is representative of the general view of those who identify themselves as similarly politically aligned.

The fact someone set such a historical and intricate building on fire is more worrying, not what some moron on Twitter tweets about it.

It's frightening how easily some wnaker like this lady can become spoken about on social media, 20 years ago she would have to write a letter to the editor where it would have been fcuked into the bin, nowadays like minded cnuts like her can be seen and heard by any idiot willing to listen

I hope whoever did this will be caught and punished to the full extent of the law and the person injured makes a full and speedy recovery.

    Disgraceful.

Who the hell is this Angela Ray anyway ? Never heard of the bitch.

A far right persona that started out as a Gemma O'Doherty groupie. Theres a load of them all like Angela and Grand Torino and their supporters absolutely delighted with this news.

A lot of crazy fckers on the interwebz, from both "sides". Although I just group em all in together as loopers and losers.

She's Jay Ray's auntie. Went a bit crazy after the sex tape with Paris Hilton 😜

The truth of the matter is that Angela Ray can barely read or write. She has no idea why she is delighted that the Freemasons building is on fire. Some Twitter account that she follows will be celebrating and she just joins in.

Her brain is slightly melted from many years of substance abuse. She’s to be pitied more so then anything else.

Lol at the "both" sides whataboutery. Nah there is no both sides on this cheering on and delighted about the fire. Its the far right who are so delighted about it.

What are you talking about? Being far right (or far left) is absolutely no indication for support (or lack thereof) of freemasonry.

A lot of freemasons are what you would consider far-right. There are plenty on the left who are vehemently against freemasonry.

You're trying to distract from the central issue, a disgusting arson attack, and instead use it to discredit "far" right wing ideology by reposting tweets from some unhinged and deranged people, who have limited followers. This is quite disingenuous.

I would however like to thank you for the thread, I was unaware such a historical and impressive building was set on fire, it is very sad.

It isnt the far left jumping for joy about this fire.

Back to the issue at hand, who was injured? No matter who they are, I hope it's not too serious. I wonder what part(s) of the building were damaged. As you enter, there is the bar on the right, which has a very interesting library. At the rear, there is the museum. On other floors there are a lot of intricate rooms with differing themes.

I hope the perpetrator is brought to justice via the full rigors of the law.

    Lol.

No you are right, it's the left who are sympathetic to the Freemasons and freemasonry in general.

You know, the organisation majority full of white middle aged men, with a lot of ties to politics and policing if rumours are to believed (gammon is it?), who also don't allow women to enter?

    Sound left leaning to me.

What the hell are you trying to do? How many masons do you know personally?

Some absolute prick set fire to a historical building and injured a man, and you use it to take pot shots at "the right" because some lunatics like Gemma o Doherty and her ilk are laughing about it?

Happy new year. Hopefully we won't see as much politic baiting **** stirring for the remaining 364 days.

Eh, the far right are the crowd that have largely been pushing the anti vaccination rallies. There's a huge overlap with those attending the rallies who believe in QAnon nonsense. The far right have embraced conspiracy theories and that's the reality...

    Oh right.

What has that got to do with a dickhead starting a fire in the grand lodge?

Seems like certain people are pushing this as a left Vs right agenda (as is par for the course), instead of labelling it as a despicable act carried out by an arsehole.

But yeah, take it. Freemasonry is left wing now.

Exactly. Why are the far right celebratring the fire so much.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? Sick thing to do, it's a beautiful building. The radical left and radical right both hate the Freemasons but then again the list of people they hate is very very long.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40,538 ✭✭✭✭Annasopra

The far left are not the ones celebrating this fire.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? Their sometimes colleagues on the far right are but the radical left has a long history of hating the masons.

Viewing them as Royalists, Zionists, quasi Jewish, capitalist etc etc.

Never said it was left wing, Freemasonry has always been the target of conspiracy theories including by the likes of the Nazis or Franco. So it's not as if it's the first time they've been targeted by the right.

I get around my upset at this by not being on twitter

I’m thoroughly confused though. Aren’t the masons far right? Masonic lodges are hardly communist leaning.

Oh great, someone “seemingly” making a comment on Twitter is now used as a source?

Banned in the USSR too. Hated by the RCC and by extension the IRA, basically hated and banned by people who don't understand what it is and see it as a threat.
