Still looking to swap a 19 for a 20/21 If suits anyone.
Not sure if this is allowed but I have spare bottle of MVR2021 and looking to swap for 2020 edition bottle. Please let me know if anyone’s interested
How much cash are you offering along with the bottle of 2021?
Anyone know the difference between the Barry Crockett very rare and the ordinary very rare (if you can call it ordinary), they are both on a shelf together in SuperValu
Barry Crockett was brought out to celebrate the retirement of the Midleton Master Distiller of the same name. If you want the better whiskey of the two buy that. If you want something to increase in value over time buy the Midleton Very Rare.
Just spotted a bottle of Midleton in work, from the silent distillery collection apparently. Current price is €40'000, that's not a typo.
Was thinking the Barry Crockett very rare would be worth more in time i.e. when he passed making it a more unique very rare, I could be corrected
thinking of buying Redbreast 15 or Barry Crockett very rare. Any thoughts on which one?
The Barry Crockett rarely goes above its rrp at auction. Most lose €30-50 and that's before the auction fees. There's been a few different bottle types since it was released in 2013 but it doesn't make much difference. If you bought a Barry Crockett in 2013 you would do well to get your money back. A 2013 MVR goes for between €800-1000.
Crockett is €250 whilst the Redbreast is €100. I'd get the Crockett for the whiskey and the Redbreast 15 for the price.
Anyone got a 2020 they'd be willing to swap for a couple of 2019's? Negotiable :)
How much you’d be looking for?
As far as I know the BC is a Single Pot Still whereas the MVR is a blend.
If I was to spend silly money on an IDL whiskey, I'd be getting a Dair Ghaelach. I was hugely impressed when I tasted on of that range. I've never be particularly impressed with BC or MVR
Yeah, the BC is in the set of Midleton SPS miniatures. For anyone who'd like to try the BC without shelling out on a full bottle, I'd recommend this set. Currently on offer for €30 in Tesco or €31 in Dunnes.
I managed to get a chance to buy The Jameson 21 from the Ballot, is it something that’s worth holding onto ?
A 26 year old Midleton has been released. €815 a bottle.
Where can you get this ?
Distillery shop exclusive in Midleton or Dublin.
I'm new here and was wondering how anyone when know when the Midleton Very Rare (or any of the different ones they produce) is being released. I've been on their web site a few times over a time and there's never a mention about it (or at least none I saw).
Thanks,
It's currently available, but hard to find.
My brother got 2 midleton 2021 bottles for Christmas, he's not looking to sell but was wondering if anyone had a 2017 that they'd like to swap 1 for
Doubt anyone would be mad enough to swap a €250 bottle of 2021 MVR for a €400 bottle of 2017. I'd swap a 2019 for a 2021 maybe but definitely not a 2017.
I have a 2012, full package. I see one sold for €975 in October. Perhaps now is the time to sell or drink it. It was a present and I don’t like whiskey.
Keep an eye on these lots in Irish auctions finishing next weekend. https://www.celticwhiskeyauction.com/en/lot/lot-details/2394/midleton-very-rare-2012 and Irish Whiskey Auctions | Midleton Very Rare 2012 Bottle No. 1109.
I reckon 975 was a once off but these will tell!
Jaysus, I'm glad I cracked open my 2018 to wet the childer's head reading this panic.
Sláinte!
This one might be worth a few quid more as it can float on its side.
one of the auctions closed at €1130 and the other is at€575 with 22 hours to go!
Holy moly, I got an old bottle of Jameson 18, I see the 2021 bottles went for around 250
Any idea/ rumours as for the '22 release?
I'm guessing march.. and that it'll be split release again.
Anyone got some solid info?
I really don't understand why IDL don't just double the price. There's seems to be no waning in the insane popularity of it at the moment.
People are flipping them for at least double the price - I don't see why the producer shouldn't be making the gain.
