Anyone any opinions on the Kona Kahuna 29er, looking at one, but not sure to get it or hold out and get a full sus cube next year after a bit more saving (and when new stock comes in). I am just not fully convinced I need a full sus in Ireland considering I've ridden most trails, all be it slowly, on a rigid.
When you say you've ridden most trails, do you mean Coillte trail centre stuff? If yes, then a hardtail would suffice as they are fairly tame. For the majority of natural enduro off-piste type stuff that's being built these days, then I'd highly recommend a decent full-suss there's no comparison. Cube makes some good value bikes but their geometry is about 5 years out of date which seems to be a common thing with German brands. They tend to be very conservative.
Any opinions on a Vitus Sentier? Just for trail riding, nothing extreme
If you can get your hands on one, it's a great do it all hardtail. Great value also.
I've put in a bid, we will see how it goes. In a confusing family tale my daughters ex (all amicable) is letting me use his MTB. He knows nothing about it only his friend is big into MTBing and sold it to him about 3 years ago. I am terrified to see am I getting a deal of the century or a BSO. He is dropping it off in a fortnight.
I have one and have found it brilliant to get me started. I’ve just taken the plunge and ordered a full suspension so I’m selling a size small on adverts at the moment if you’re still in the market. Open to reasonable offers

Might be the wrong place, but hopefully not! Suggestions for best place to look at second hand MTB frames, I have been scouring adverts and the cycling adverts thread, anywhere else? Looking for a nice frame to start a long term build on!
Difficult enough to get a frame only second hand. Very little choice on the usual websites. Have you a particular frame/travel size your after?
@Wailin Thanks for coming back. Looking for a hardtail, size large or XL, something slack, bit of fun. Just missed out on a Ragley Piglet on another site, just trying to figure out was I missing any other places to look.
Nice Pole Taival hardtail frame for sale but size medium on buy and sell mtb ireland Facebook page. Size medium with a 480mm reach! That's huge, especially for a hardtail. Be a nice slack HT though if it fitted.
Spotted that one. Beautiful bike!
Just heard Rab Wardell passed away this week, tragedy for someone so young. RIP.
Anyone know anything about Cordero mountain bikes?
never heard of them
Spanish??
Never heard of them and very little on Google. What are you looking at, the few I found looked like nothing of note, closer to heavy but functional town bikes rather than mountain bikes.
UCI mtb kicks off today. Anyone know is there a catchup service without signing up to discovery plus?
Boring story, rode my bike through a fairly deep seawater puddle a long time ago. Arrived to where I was going and there were shenanigans that I had to leave immediately in the car and never washed the bike down. A while later I return to a seized chain, cut it off, got distracted and never got back to it until this week. Went to fix her up for the commute, front brake pad disintegrated in my hand. Anyway, got it functional, put the wheels back on but overtightened the front, and then realised the valve is adonised and when i go to pump up the tyre, it snaps off. Go to take the front wheel back off and the thru axle completely rounds off smooth ( I will sort this out later, probably tap in a screwdriver). So I think to myself, I could just leave it and go straight to tubeless. Cut off the tube, get tubeless tape, tubeless tape doesn't stick on first attempt. Tyre pops into place and both sealant and fairy liquid coat the walls in fashion that implies the Hulk knocked one out. Tubeless tape does not hold a seal. Take it off, about to give up and bring to LBS to take off the wheel when I see a tube of Gorilla tape, my mind flashes back to my BMX, could it really work. Two rounds of Gorilla tape, a cup of sealant and we have a functioning wheel. Hooray, functional bike again.
