There was no need for him to clean the glass like he did, pointless and the only purpose was drawing out the length of the video.

Obviously glasses need to be washed after every use.

Anyone seen the elusive surger in the wild around Westmeath? Father left it late to ask for one for Christmas

I got a few of them in tesco, they had probably 30 on a shelf in the off licence section and down to €20 but seeing loads of lads selling them for 40 or 50 euro and sometimes even more

Has anyone seen a nitrosurge can available anywhere?

I have the device and have always had problems finding cans but usually manage somewhere, but last week I've been to every dunnes, supervalue and tesco for miles (in Central Dublin so I've been to a lot of stores!)...

Not central, but my local SuperValu (Ballinteer) have some and Tesco in Dundrum had a decent stock a few days ago.

Thanks, only tried sv Ballinteer this evening but didn't go near Dundrum (as tesco website has marked them out of stock now but perhaps website and stores are different)

Tried this YouTube technique and it hasn't worked at all for me, not sure what I'm doing wrong but ends up with the head coming up through where the pin went in. I've had better success by just very slowly opening the can until I hear the faintest hiss and leaving it for a few minutes then fully opening. That way I've avoided any spillage.

Not convinced there is any difference in taste when pouring direct from can or using above method though. Just looks better.

How could there be a difference in taste if it's the same product from the same type of can? Does a sandwich taste different when it's cut into triangles as opposed to across the middle?

Well actually yes it goes size impacts the mouths taste buds.... So theres that.

Of course additional cream head on a pint is going to impact your taste buds.

No idea I tried that way works everytime. Presume it depends on the size of the pin. If it's thicker pin it won't work well. Those tailor pins work every time. The hole seems to be far too small to allow. Liquid release.

I use one of these lads, remember from school?? Tap the compass gently to pierce the tin and it lets the air out nice a slowly. Great job, converted the brother last weekend into using it too. Pins too fiddly I find.

Do nitro surge cans work with the original surger unit, have an original guinness unit here from years and year ago when I saw it one time abroad.

eveey video I search for is surger cans with the nitro surge unit, not the other way around.

Triangle sandwiches always taste better. Pint, funeral soup and a triangle sandwich.... 💥

Just got one from MAXOL station beside the regional hospital in limerick. They've about 40 or 50 of them on the shelf for anyone that's in the area. They've been sold out everywhere here for weeks...

The units themselves are common enough I think, it's the cans that are the issue now. Impossible to find anywhere in Limerick.

Luckily I've perfected the pin trick.

Care to elaborate on the pin trick? What's the secret

any update on cans and availability. Any update on why there is no stock?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,885 ✭✭✭✭MEGA BRO WOLF 5000

I think Guinness seriously underestimated the demand for cans. Shops are ordering them alright but lucky to get a few 6 packs. Everywhere is rammed with the normal widget cans.

Can anyone update with availability of cans and where.

Hi just a follow up here to a recent query where others are now asking same...

I've basically been to every large supermarket for miles in every direction and no cans... I spoke to manager in a supervalue who said they do occasionally get a few but as soon as they hit shop floor they are gone...

Anyway, following someone else's comment on here, I found a few stray 6 packs in centra around the place but priced at 17 euro....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,150 ✭✭✭✭PsychoPete

It seems to vary from shop to shop but I got two packs in a dunnes stores this morning, they had about 15 packs on the floor

    €2.83 a can...ouch.

I've happily surging away on my slab of 24 normal draught 538ml cans that I picked up for €20 using the pin prick hack.

At 83c, they taste much better.
