Joe Schmidt joining NZ as a selector. You'd wonder if this will end up with him in the top job in a few years.
Thought he took a gig with the highlanders recently? On that tho, he’s still in Ireland for now, I saw him doing a quick shop in Churchtown a week or so ago lol!
He will have a part time role with the Blues as a "support coach". Yeah I believe he is still with World rugby until the end of the year and then he is heading back to NZ
Sorry yes Blues… makes sense if he’s got a role as a selector with NZ, in Auckland no doubt!
Interesting, I would have said that selection was Joe's weakest attribute.
So Saracens are staring a group stage exit of the Challange cup as they had to forfeit there game against Pau 28-0, things you love to see. They lose to Edinburgh at at the dam health and it's probably all over for them.
It's amusing, but in reality I think you could count the number of teams who give the slightest damn about Europe this season on one hand.
100%
There is very very little interest in the HC outside of Ireland this year, and even less in the CC
An English-South African colleges/schools rugby website has been listing top 50 schools of all time based on a criteria they created looking at number of under 18/under 20 internationals, senior internationals, success in competitions each season,
Very flawed criteria with weightings for some areas but interesting none the less.
9 irish schools in the top 50
Rockwell 49th, RBAI 48th, Michaels 40th, Munchins 37th, Clongowes 36th,
Methody 34th, CBC Cork 18th, PBC Cork 14th and Blackrock 3rd
This was how many were from each country if anyone else interested
South Africa 10, New Zealand 11, England 5, Australia 15, Ireland 9
And the top 10 schools were
10. Kings Parramatta (Australia)
9. Bishops (South Africa)
8. Paarl Gim (South Africa)
7. Nudgee College (Australia)
6. Auckland Grammar (New Zealand)
5. Paul Roos (South Africa)
4. Christchurch Boys (New Zealand)
3. Blackrock College (Ireland)
2. St Josephs, Hunters Hill (Australia)
1. Grey College (South Africa)
If u watch the international schools comp then u will see that 1-2-3 would be greys, paul Roos and Paarl.
The 2 kiwi schools are the 2 I'd expect. But I would have thought the other way round. Surprised at how many Aussie schools are in the top 10. Also no Welsh schools.
There was no welsh or scottish schools included as the site hadnt included them in their database at the time. They say theyre going to release a list every year and will include other countries in time.
Is schools rugby a big thing in Wales?
Is rugby even a big thing in Wales these days?
I see in January that any unvaccinated player in France will be released by there club, i wonder if there potential here for an Irish club to find a good signing on the cheep with the bargaining chip of the playing having little time and narrowing options.
Seriously?
Link??
Yeah the French government have said that all professional sports people must be vaccinated to play, it may mean hassle for visiting teams too.
Although just to add not sure how it will affect unvaccinated players contract wise.
The IRFU importing hardline anti-vaxxers while looking for government Covid subsidies as the pandemic causes cancellations and forfeits?
What could go wrong?
I have no problem with the French government coming down hard on selfish bast***S. I applaud the decision.
But why on earth any Rugby supporter in this country would want to import these idiots and pay them good money I know not. Hence my 'Seriously' comment.
Oh right, yeah I’ve no particular beef with the rule and I’m not sure I’d be clamouring to sign anyone available in that manner.
One of mates added this to his WhatsApp profile
“Hello, as I've been vaccinated I'm reachable via 5G now”
Makes more sense than adding restrictions for a country with a 94% vaccination rate....
Also does this mean that from January the 15th there will be 0 cases after matches in France?
No
So the vaccine isnt effective then?
FFS! Not this rubbish again.
I dont think its rubbish, I think its a pretty fair question to ask. Basically you cant play rugby in France unless you are vaccinated even though it wont stop the virus spreading which asks a pretty obvious question, what is the point of the vaccine in the first place?
