Entirely factual and the government have already passed the legislation but most people are absolutely clueless to whats coming. If you spoke to people about this two years ago their eyes glazes over.
Well here we are two weeks away. Joy of joys.
I think Beernut was referring to the current (multi buy) regs, not the MUP regs coming next month.
I think they would be still subject to the same pricing rule as the others. If I understand Beernut correctly.
My understanding is that currently, they can reduce the price of any alcohol product or multipack for a minimum period of time for it not to be on 'sale'. That can be applied to all alcohol products.
When MUP comes in, they won't be able to go on sale below a certain price, which could mean they will raise the price higher, so that they can reduce it.
I was referring to the multibuy rule, but I think Suckit is quite correct: MUP will affect slabs as they look to be currently priced well below the incoming minimum, so the can size is moot. I guess the levelling effect of MUP will make life easier for Diageo.
Killing off big cheap supermarket slabs is exactly what the law is intended to do. The ship has long since sailed for anyone who didn't want that to happen.
Pricing of the surger cans also makes more sense in a MUP context, which even I'd forgotten about tbh. Surger has pulled me back in to keeping an eye on Guinness, so a win for Diageo marketing right there I guess!
Tried the nirtrosurge device with a Can of Kilkenny , very very smooth with a longer lasting head. will try it again over Christmas.
i took a while to get the knack of releasing the air with no activation but easy enough once you few.
I bought a 24 pack of the 538ml cans for €20 and just successfully pierced one with the tip of a small screw and then used the surger on it. Works absolutely perfectly, time to stock up on a few trays before minimum pricing comes in and the pubs shut.
€17 in LIDl now
Tried my local Tesco and SuperValu and sold out of the nitro surge devices.
Anyone see them in stock anywhere?
Somewhat oblivious to this but what does piercing the can actually do and is it only done when using the surger?
Release the gas slowly enough and the widget doesn't active the nitrogen.
Thus you pour a flat pint, so you can either then use the surger/jewellery cleaner or else attach the Nitrosurge and pour a better drink.
Christ must get a few to keep me going.
I've never used the Nitrosurge before but getting one for Xmas. So you pierce a normal can first and then open it and attach the device?
18 in tesco should lidl be out. 3 slab maximum per sale. These are the 538ml cans
Walk through here on YouTube.
Where the hell can you get these devices.
You would swear I'm asking for something illegal by some of responses I get..tried all the usual suspects but no joy
Depends what's local to you
West Dublin...Everything really
I will keep trying, better be bleeding worth it when I do get one😁
Well all I know is supervalu arklow sold their last one this morning but tesco across the road had ten this morning. But about 30 this evening. Like a stock room top up.
haha true sorry.
North Dublin City.
Molloys finglas had them this week. About 6 I think I saw in glass case
Got one in Centra Regency. They have a load left. 25 euro.
Still plenty there today
Jaysus he makes hard work of that with the pin & screwdriver. Useful guide but 11 minutes was dragging it out.....
And the insane washing of the glass. I've never been near a pub that does anything close to that amount of cleaning.
Tbf most pubs throw them in a machine. But mulligans handwashes them.
If you aren't handwashing your guinness glass expect worse results. Evidently you don't know the importance of clean glassware... Ask any bar man.
I worked in bars for 10+ years but thanks for the concern.
After use they got rinsed, put onto a stationary brush in the sink, into the machine, out and back into place under the taps.
So it's almost like.. Washing your glasses isn't 'insane'...
But sure its the Internet people are prone to hyperbole for the sake of it.
Yeah, that guy went overboard and it was an insane way to wash a glass.
Trained at the Guinness School of Bolloxology no doubt.
He does make a good point from 6:48 that if your have broken the seal and have Guinness pouring out (or bubbling), then your goosed.
