Have been keeping half an eye on that one as it would be dead handy for when visiting the inlaws and I've done several runs along those trails, would be a nice route. I'm sure their page was live just before the the first wave hit, but no updates since.
Same as. It suits when visiting her family. I don't mind the drive over to Vandeleur as it's a lovely parkrun.
I just checked their future roster.
Parkrun have updated the Christmas Day list.
Malahide and Adgillan are on it. Porterstown has also been confirmed.
Royal Canal (Kilcock) is also on.
Where are ye seeing that Bravestaar?

Tolka Valley in Finglas considering staging and event on Xmas day
I see the Tramore Valley Park northern entrance is open at last, hopefully this means parkrun can return..

When your role is barcode scanner, which do you scan first, the runner's barcode or finish token?
AB system
Athlete
Barcode (token)
If you think about it logically if you can't scan the athlete barcode then is there any point scanning the finish token?
If you want to, you can actually scan both at the same time on the app. It'll recognize both at the same time.
The app is a fantastic improvement
I came across a YouTube video last night with how to get your parkrun ID on your Garmin.
It works, very handy.

While this is possible I think one at a time will confuse less people and keeps it standard. Not all parkrunners/volenteers are really comfortable with the app initially so keeping it simple always make things easier and eliminates their fears.
A question for the Cork based parkrunners… does anyone know what is preventing the Tramore Valley Park event from reopening?
Wasn't it originally closed due to insufficient pedestrian access? I was there recently and there is pedestrian access now from Half Moon Lane and from the South Douglas Road, as well as good parking facilities.
Thanks for reading!
Two things, there is no permission from council as yet & there is no team for the event given it was shutdown almost six years ago.
Thanks, @opus !
I live locally. How would one find out about who to talk to about setting up a team?
Feel free to send me a PM, realistically I think it will be in Q2 next year before there's any movement on the council side but no harm getting things in place.
If anyone living locally is interested in helping get a new junior event off the ground in Cork City.
Any junior parkruns going ahead on Stephen's day?
Just the one it looks like -> https://www.parkrun.ie/special-events/
A boy Sajid, the penny has dropped in the UK, hopefully all outdoor sport continues as expected. Please God our Govt rows back on limiting outdoor sports in any way.
Absolutely brilliant. It makes things so much handier and it's impossible to miss scanning somebody. I missed a couple of results previously with the old system..
Will able to upload your parkrun id onto your garmin now do the scanners here work on them or do I need to bring my paper still?
The phone app does scan from Garmins, but I've noticed it to be a bit variable.
First time I presented my Garmin it worked perfectly and quickly.
Second time it refused to scan and so I ended up having my number written down manually.
Last week the lad infront of me in the queue was presenting their Garmin and it took a while in the rain before they could get it to scan.
I don't bother with it, it's not worth the bother, and I just use the wristband instead. But I do have the whole families barcodes on my Garmin for emergency situations where one of them might have lost their wristband or forgotten it. The Garmin is the backup, wristband is still the best thing to get scanned I think.
I didn't realise you could scan your barcode onto your watch? Must google that - I have one of the credit card barcodes that fits well in any pocket but I don't always have a pocket on me so this would be a handy backup.
The Garmin widget that I've used is called Barcode Wallet, but there are quite a few which will generate the code.
I used parkrun barcode | Garmin Connect IQ
I've seen talk of being able to regenerate the barcode as a QR code which then scans more reliably due to it containing error checks, and the app can read it. Not found what app people are using for that yet though.
