Some issues there alright. The Adams thing was stupid.
Don't see MM putting up videos celebrating the selling of babies, but the bould Gerry is putting up vidoes celebrating the killing of babies.
"Tiocfaidh Ar La" will be forever associated with the evils of the PIRA.
Deflect and distract, and throw in a personal attack.
"MLMD didn't shoot anyone, neither did MM."
MLMD was a late arrival from FF but DE (Dessie Ellis Dublin NW TD) was in the IRA and was convicted in connection with bomb making so who knows what other SF-IRA activities he was involved with?
Eoin Ó Broin did himself no favours here imo. I didn't realise he was so woke. Storm in a teacup. The Adams sketch was a bit of fun.
Hmmmm…
And so the very obvious splits start...
No way in hell SF holds together a rabble of pseudo intellects, IRA apologists, former terrorists, hardline Republicans, the shadowy back office, socialists, working class, middle class, useless and useful idiots and people interested in actual politics and policies. all from different walks of life, all over the Island. An absolute clusterfuck waiting to explode once in power. Its a political soup.
Its clear as day any pandering to concentrate on a UI when in power will lose them votes and TDS, and the opposite is true if they only focus on housing and Southern affairs.
The madlad Republicans already going for poor Eoin on twitter. its hilarious.
The Adams video is just the thin edge of the wedge. its why many of us actively hate SF. hypocritical, maudalin, lying ****. They are hoodwinking a hell of a lot of people on this Island. some utterly stupid people are falling for it.
They will do nothing about any housing crisis, they will push the UI agenda at the cost of everything else and their party will fragment as there is no centre to the party, only extremes. My long term prediction is a huge slice of support from traditional working class areas goes over to the dark side of the NP.
You are playing childish here. I agree what Adams did was wrong. Different issue. Adams should resign from all public representative bodies.
You've raised it 3 times in one day.
I'm addressing your synopsis of others and your faux concern for the feelings of the victims that suit your narrative while ignoring those that don't.
Whats your point, he's still alive?
I thought the 'holy armalite batman, its the 'RA' days were done.
Adams needs to go away.
More concerned about getting into a home if their own. I hope they are on the dole or a low wage because SF will not make any massive moves to get private houses that those who do not qualify for social or affordable housing.
Adams did more for this island than the rest of the SF TDs put together. Let's not try to rewrite history here.
What are you basing this on?
I think he did great things.
I don't think making light of an armed struggle with deaths on every side is a bit of fun.
Hmmm. I must have missed that bit.
I think people are getting overly outraged. Eoin Ó Broin being one. He should concentrate on his own job.
Start a thread on me then, if that is what you are doing.
He is but how many did he kill?
It'll be interesting to see what Mary Lou will say if asked about EOB's comments...
Will she back Eoin or the man who put her where she is??
Can call out Gerry's latest stunt out for what it is. It's carefully choreographed PR move to get people thinking that SF have somehow begun to change. You think O'Broin who has served in local authorities in the north would come out and say Gerry should apologize without permission ? It's a blatent PR stunt.
Also on the subject of Gerry been a great man who bought peace to this island. You do not become a great man or a peace maker because the organisation you have supported since your teenage years stops planting bombs. Sure you could easily calm Hitler a peace maker because he killed himself using that logic
She will say what she is told to say.
I responded to your comments with questions. As is traditional. If you don't want to engage, don't.
No idea. "Lessons learned"?
I'd counter your post and the reason behind it, only of course you negated to state what you were basing the argument on.
You might also have missed where I specifically said they had minds of their own, the reason I specifically said that is because I've no idea who they'll vote for in the next election, but I can assure you I know from talking with them the northern conflict in mid 1970s might as well be the civil war era so far as they're concerned. So certainly won't influence them.
I know from past contributions of yours you are an FF voter (I used to be too), and I get perplexed when I see FF/FG bemoan about what they perceive to be an over generous welfare system, which they believe is used and abused by some of its recipients, without realising the system they view as overgenerous and easily abused was installed and overhauled by the party's they pledge allegiance to.
Might be time to move on with the "IRA and the troubles" tired old rhetoric pip, I repeat, the younger generation don't care, time to change the record maybe.
I agree with some of what you have said. FF and FG have introduced a welfare system that is overly generous to the lifetime jobseeker and not nearly generous enough to those who for whatever reason cannot work due to a disability. Sinn Fein have absolutely no ambition to change that, in fact they want to make it to make it more generous.
I also agree with the facts that opposition attacking Sinn Fein on the troubles is of little concern to the majority of young voters, they however cannot be allowed to rewrite history, they committed some acts that in fact made them as bad as any British Soldier or UDR man. We also cannot let SF continue with this charade that victims of British Atrocities deserve justice while Sinn Fein honour men and women who commited equally sectarian and indiscriminate murder.
There is plenty more that FF and FG could use to attack SF on like their continued objection to housing on the basis that it's the wrong type of housing when in fact we need all types of housing built.
There is also plenty that the UKSF branch get up to while in government such as handing powers regarding welfare back to Westminster or raising rents during the pandemic.
Or George Washington, or Michael Collins, or Nelson Mandela, or Margaret Thatcher or Ronald Reagan, or Tony Blair...... tbf, thatcher, Reagan and Blair used violence and bombs after being in the political process.
Are you that naive or just desperate for shock value?
when in fact we need all types of housing built.
No we don't. I don't want to pay to lease luxury apartments for 25 years with no option to buy, for your "lifetime jobseeker".
This is what the current lot are doing. Are you not as annoyed about that?
Its my understanding that SF want to do away with such wastes. You not happy about that?
Not seeing the mystery here. From the POV of such voters, things would indisputably get worse under an SF-led government. In their Budget 2022, for example, SF were calling for a €10 increase in the basic social welfare payment.
Think of the savings by not leasing or buying social housing.
Well, it didn't take long, did it? The Boys from Belfast must have ordered the troops out to take out Eoin O'Broin. Lucky man that the times of disappearing traitors have gone for now.
"Senior party TDs David Cullinane and Matt Carthy took to the airwaves to directly contradict Mr Ó Broin’s call for the former Sinn Féin leader to issue an apology for taking part in the video."
