Championship showdown this weekend. Will Lewis win his eight title or will Max win his first? All will be revealed on Sunday.

Bring! It! On!
I haven't watched f1 in years until this season and I know this is an utterly nonsense argument.
Its funny but due to the sheer number of idiots in the world some people will believe it.
Hamilton really bottled that, only had to hold him off for 1 lap in a much faster car but left the door open for Max, rookie mistake.
Not enough Picard facepalms in the world for this....
Conspiracy theory
Have to laugh at that.
Lewis and his father were both gracious in defeat - It was a clear cut win for everyone apart from Toto Wolff.
Incredible race and incredible execution from Max and team RB.
Have rarely bothered with F1 for a long time (usually only watch on a Sunday depending what else is on) .......but that ending would go down as the best bit of live tv I can remember for a very long time, sport or otherwise
There's also the fact that had long been agreed by ALL teams that where possible it was highly desirable for the race to end under green flags.
Sounds like Merc agreed to this and now that it's gone against them the don't like it.
Just watched the race. My god what an end to the season and without question the right decision and right result.
Hamilton’s salt level must be insane right now.
Roll on next year.
My hopes are:
Ferrari and maybe McLaren to challenge RB and Mercedes.
Closer racing in general.
More unpredictability ala Saudi Arabia.
And lastly thank you Kimi. Legend.
Safety car and the strategy around them is part of the sport.
He won't care - he is World Champion for more than just Today.
It's a pity Masi and the stewards have made such a balls of things, it's damage that's hard to undo.
I say this is easily the busiest thread I ever started 😲
Hollow victory my hoop, the only reason its even this close was because he was taken out twice by Merc cars this season.
Article 15.3 gives the Race Director ultimate and overriding authority over the use of the safety car. An easy out for the stewards and the FIA.
Remember when Hamilton crashed but was able to unlap himself because of a red flag, something hw whined about endlessly last week
Remember 2018 when Hamilton complained about the Ferraris hitting the Mercs and how they shouldnt be able to finish ahead of the car they took out, didnt bother him at silverstone
No they didn’t. They reported Red Bull’s argument that ‘all doesn’t mean any’ and made no mention of it in their own case.
My point was that the arguments were so weak that no rules were at risk of being bent.
Hamilton was asked what tyres he'd like in the case of a safety car. He said I don't mind they're all good, these ones are good too.
The race was won on tactics, to be honest I have to wonder would it even matter what tyres they had. Max had his opportunity and took it. He drove like a lunatic, you can see he nearly lost grip on the very last turn sliding over the kerb.
Your football authority is strange, if in a football match a referee makes a bad decision, do teams try and get goals deducted after the match finishes?
The only positive of this debacle today in that Masi is done
Yup, thought he took it very well. Really dont understand the hate this guy gets.
Delighted for Max, Hamilton has been robbed right at the end as he drove really well in this rac but he has also been very lucky with some decisions earlier this season..
Hollow victory for Max.
Spent 50 laps in second place, 15 secs behind Hamilton up to the crash.
Had a series of fortunate events:
Latifi crashed and SC sent out.
Was well placed to swap tyres.
Hamilton was not placed to swap tyres.
Race restarted with one lap to go.
Lapped cars were told to get out of his way.
We came for the drama and got it, but a clear cut win from either driver would have been far more preferable. Max is probably sitting and waiting for deliberations instead of doing body shots off Kelly Piquet.
At the end of the day, goals win games and places win races.
Hopefully next season its not Mercedes versus red bull again. Nobody on either side is particularly likeable (well I like Bottas and Checo, but no Hamilton or Verstappen or the bosses)...
Your first season watching F1? Cos teams have been bending rules since the dawn of time using the type of logic above. Its the reason why the rule book is the size of a phone-book.
Terribly biased commentary on BBC website, stating all sorts of things about Red Bull benefiting from rules not being applied, but don't seem to have mentioned at all about Hamilton getting away with a blatant breach at the start. Almost like they're biased.
Good luck with that in Court - which is where this will end up. Millions of new viewers watched this race. They saw a driver 11 seconds ahead have his lead cut to zero by the decision of a steward when that driver had done nothing wrong. The FAI love safety cars, second grid starts etc because it increases the "excitement". It's like the ref disallowing a goal just to give the other team a chance.
It's shown that races can be won or lost on a coin toss. That one man can decide who wins. Imaging the 5000 meters where an official decides that all the athletes must bunch back up together. It would be exciting but totally unsporting.
Wow, the RB defence is really weak. I argued earlier why ‘any’ very much does have the same meaning as all. The point about 48.13 overriding 48.12 is irrelevant because at issue is whether it was legitimate to ignore 48.12. The rules state that the race director has ‘overriding authority’ over the clerk of the course, not of the rules! And lastly, it is highly dubious that the outcome would have been the same with five lapped cars between Verstappen and Hamilton.
There was no alternative to refusing the appeal, but RB had nothing up their sleeve.
So do I, but Mercedes should let it go now but it should start a very serious conversation about the powers of the Race Director and what rules he can and can't impose on a whim, for the simple reason that all it did was cause sh*tshow after sh*tshow this season.
Wad Max behind the backmarkers before his stop? I remember Lewis lost ground and was complaining on the radio but not sure if Max had passed them by the time the SC was out.
Thing is, if you have situation where someone tries to change a referees decision after the event, where does that end?
Imagine in football, offside goal, wasn't disallowed in the match but we deduct a goal after the match.
Cricket, someone was out, after the race seems he wasn't, reinstate the wicket.
Rugby, video ref made a mistake and someone was awarded a try, deduct the points.
