I really have to question the sincerity of people who say they can't understand why so many are cheering for Verstappen.
If the rules next year work to shake things up I doubt I'll be cheering for Verstappen. I don't see me cheering for him in any situation but him v Hamilton. I'd make a prediction that he's going to end up being more notorious than popular before his career ends.
I detest Hamilton and then I read some of the posts here and I feel like I'm a superfan because I thought he was screwed today. He knows better to leave the Toto and Mercedes and deal with the meltdown of challenging the result. Red Bull similarly would have grabbed Max to keep his mouth shut if the same happened
With the overtaking dismissed the FAI aren't going to rule against themselves.
The FAI definitely won’t as it’s nothing to do with them but hopefully the FIA own up to their mistake.
After today most people following the sport will be cheering for max v George Russell
If anything comes from this I hope they define the rules for next season. Been very messy on and off the track this season.
“2230 has become 2245 for a return to the stewards.
After the first protest was dismissed, what it has come down to is whether the title was influenced by a race control error. It's not an error by either team or driver”
When Rosberg won the title in 2016 I criticised Hamilton on thread for how reacted after the race. But today he's handled a messy situation well. Hasn't said anything since the official press bits but shook hands and congratulated his opposition.
By backing Masi's call they are effectively ruling against themselves
Hamilton has won the Championship seemingly.
Red Bull summoned to Stewards to give them the news according to Sky Sports.
No word on Mercedes being asked, so can only be one thing you'd imagine, they'll tell Red Bull first and then tell Mercedes as other way around would be very obvious the result before they spoke to both.
Edit: Maybe not.
That not for next year's?
Lol
It absolutely was influenced by a race control error, I don't think that can be disputed with any credibility.
The question is what they do about it, and there isn't really a good answer to that. They certainly can't take the title from Max and give it to Hamilton at this stage, and I don;t think there is a snowballs chance in hell of that happening.
Link to this please?
Ah well, null and void the race so. :P
Confirmed that Mercedes will follow Red Bull to the stewards according to BBC.
C4 also saying Mercedes are going back too
This is page 44 of this thread which means Hamilton is going to be declared champion seemingly
There will be war if they give to Lewis. As in absolute proper war not just twitter rants
Red flag after Latifi smash would have saved this shìtestorm.
I know Massi said during the week he wouldn't red flag in that situation but I'd say he is sorry now.
Makes sense to tell Redbull first, get them out, and then Merc can have the room for the rest of the night to appeal it all.
They will tell Mercedes to suck it up and then it’s up to them what happens next.
Yes I don't like what Masi and RC did at the end but it shouldn't be decided this way, if that is what will happen.
Hamilton has congratulated Max, their respective fathers have respected the result. Let it lie.
Red Bull 1st in, Mercedes 2nd I would think indicates good news/keep quiet before bad news delivered to the last recipient?
It would still be a sh1tshow as he had said he wouldn't - decisions would have been made on that surely?
Rather the other way around, you don't want someone celebrating in faces of second party.
Don't know where that's come from, but to be clear both teams are back in front of the stewards at the same time
All I will say is that Lewis's conduct was exemplary after the race as was he's Da.
Yeah that's what I mean. He shouldn't have said it.
