Bring! It! On!
This is like the 33rd team stunt Delaney tried. He must've been an inspiration for Toto.
In fairness everyone said that about Trump and he wasn't too bad. George W was the who invaded Iraq
Yeah, kinda like Toto saying we don't want a safety car during the race...right?
The safety car protest that Verstappen overtook has been dismissed!
You'd hope the decision stands, but might be a move to improve this for future. Other racing series can't end a race under yellow or caution, could do same here. Ideally it would be obvious to everyone before a decision is taken as to what the decision would be, which wasn't the case today.
I think they will take it further & they probably should to ensure that we have a proper set of rules & stewarding next year. They must ensure that this doesn't happen again.
As for Mercedes having a lawyer there, it was a sensible thing to do especially considering the last few races. Horner should accept that he would be doing exactly the same thing if the boot were on the other foot.
And C4 commentator said that Lewis did the same to Rosberg in 2016. It's part of racing.
The dislike for Hamilton is crazy (and I'm not really a fan) .
I can only imagine how petulant Max would be if roles were reversed
Amazing turn of events, I don't think Mercedes have any grounds for appeal. They cleared the track just in time for one last lap to decide the race.
One thing I'm wondering is how come the softs gave no advantage at the start but basically won the race in the end? Or was their too much fuss made over the tyres? Maybe it was more a case of Lewis' tyres were completely
I love the sport but it always makes me feel a bit pathetic. Watching all these rich, famous, successful, attractive and glamorous people living such a life. And me sitting on the couch watching it on TV.
Stewards decision imminent according to Sky Sports.
decision at 6.30pm apparently
Didn't Perez hold up Hamilton with Hamilton on fresh tyres and Perez on old tyres?
Scratch that I was looking at 2022 :(
I've liked George at Williams but don't think he's going to be the same guy at Mercedes. The Mercedes suits will see to that.
John Delaney just can't help himself can he. 🤣
With who?
Only odds I can find are for next year.
No doubt Hamilton is directing things behind the scenes, he could easily tell Toto that they accept the result but hasn't. Doing themselves no favours.
Yes people putting a few bob on.
Bookmakers and markets making a quick buck from the gullible more likely.
The Race Director has overriding authority on the use of the safety car. How far that goes is what the suits in Mercedes are arguing:
I don't know i think Verstappen was handed the win, Hamilton was not going to keep Versatppen behind him with his fresh tyres even with one lap, letting a certain amount of back markers to pass to allow Verstappen along side Hamilton and not the rest doesn't seem right to me somehow, what are the rules here ?,
I think the FIA and stewards will back Masi and dismiss the complaints from Mercedes, then it’s up to Mercedes to take it further or accept defeat.
Nothing to say otherwise.
Must have been gutting for him but he spoke to cameras graciously.
Wonder if this might drive him to retire
F1, Masi and Mercedes all coming out of this terribly. Red Bull played the hand they were dealt, and Hamilton has been gracious post-race.
Whatever the outcome, they need to fix officiating for next year -- too many debates about race direction, stewarding, penalties, and moaning on the team radio.
Hamilton now favourite in the betting. Something must have happended
Hamiltons accepted it like an adult at least in public anyway.
Its Mercedes and George Russell who are embarrassing themselves.
In public!
Nothing ad far as I can see. He behaved well after the race. Now its up to the lawyers.
This kind of legalistic guff is just the zeitgeist at the moment. Trump didn't invent it but he certainly made refusing to lose more common and mainstream. The idea of just being a gracious looser is not in the culture at the moment. I don't like it but I don't really blame anyone. It's just the way things are at the moment.
The system should hold firm. With a bit of luck it will be sorted soon.
in fairness to him he's handled it better than anyone thought he would under these circumstances, and there is nothing to say he is the one behind this challenge, it looks to be all coming from Toto and Merc not Hamilton, Sky even said Toto went up to his office and refused to come down when Horner went to him.
