Bring! It! On!
The whole fiasco is being driven by the FAI not following their own rules.
It’s the indecision that makes made Masi look bad today. Lapped cars can’t overtake, then the ones between Lewis and Max can right before the restart. Could surely have signaled all lapped cars to go a earlier like so many other races and not bother with them catching up. We’d just be talking about how unlucky Hamilton got with safety cars.
Would Hamilton have just got caught anyways on the straight if he had covered the inside to T5?
He would tell his team not to be doing all the protests if he was really gracious, just saving face in public.
I wanted Max to win but it’s pretty obvious that last lap can’t stand and this is going to be given to LH surely.
Sainz had two cars ahead of him that shouldn’t have been there for example - it was a complete farce, Masi has really f**ked it under pressure.
Going to CAS would be a complete joke. The season is a year long and has loads of decisions you could argue. If it goes to CAS RB could bring loads of what they thought was unfair in the season.
Ultimately in sport you may disagree with decisions but whatever the referee/stewards decide should be final.
In fairness to Hamilton (and his father) he congratulated Verstappen after the race. He put his hand out and congratulated the winner.
This whole fiasco is being driven by Wolff and the suits at Mercedes.
Hamilton has been nothing but gracious
a bit like Toto telling Masi not to throw a safety car when Gio pulled off at T9
I think this is the only get out that the FAI have. Are the rules set in stone or does the race director have some leeway ?
Toto said earlier in the race to Masi "no safety car please Michael" and no safety car came out. Open to all sorts of accusations.
They need to cut it out next season but you can't overturn the championship winner this season because of a potential procedural error by the race director.
They've done that forever. What they need to do is stop broadcasting it to tv. All teams are obliged to try every argument to help their drivers win a race.
I think it just comes across badly on tv. It would be like having a live mic on the captain of a Premier League team
I'm going from memory here, but I thought that was in response to Masi saying he needed to sort the other issue (the car and debris) first, and Horner meant he only needed a lap to get rid of the unlapped cars.
One things for sure…. the next season of Drive To Survive is going to be on fire!!
What has Hamilton done?
C4 whoring through the highlights. Should be a good bit of live stuff after with updates re appeals etc.
Coulthard and the biased clown commentating with him making fools of themselves will be entertaining
Horner saying to Masi that "we just need one lap" & then getting that lap, is open to all sorts of accusations especially as it could be argued that a Max win helps the sport. One driver always winning reduces the viewing figures, sponsorship etc. It benefits the FIA for Max to win.
I'll leave this here
That never happens, didn't happen for Schumacher/Hill, won't happen here.
Will be interesting if Mercedes go the trumpy route, not a good image for the sport.
At most the rules will be clarified to make it clear what to do in the future, overturning the championship winner would be unprecedented.
Disgusting from Hamilton and Mercedes big bunch of sore losers.
Yes, my post mentions that they’ve formally appealed to the FIA in order for them to go to CAS.
If Mercedes to go that far, then this is going to be terrible for the sport, because this will happen again in the future and other teams will do the same every time that something goes against them.
Sets a dangerous president.
They should just correct the stewards errors.
Finish under the SC but award Lewis a 5 second time pen for 1st lap incident.
Did redbull appeal that first corner decision after race end?
Surely with timing info they could clearly demonstrate that Hamilton did not give up advantage gained by going off track as he went from being in danger of overtake to out of sight up the road.
Absolute rubbish, it's only the desperation of toto wolf and mercedes that's driving this narrative. The barrister being on site tells you everything
They definitely need to cut out the teams speaking to the race director and looking for decisions like Toto seeking no safety car earlier in the race and Red Bull at the end. It's nonsense.
From reading up on it they can't go to the CAS without exhausting all processes under the FIA first, which they haven't done.
Ah here, if the CAS gets involved we could end up with Mazepin as champion.
Any sport that allows themselves to be overseen by a joke of an organisation like them deserves what they get.
Seeing on twitter* that Mercedes’ will be appealing this to the CAS and have formally appealed to the FIA who have 4 hours to respond. This tells me they know already that the stewards won’t be upholding the protests
*it’s from a Lewis fan account and they cite the BBC as confirming the CAS appeal
Heh, said just that in the thread I just started. Speak when spoken to.
