Bring! It! On!
Exactly.
This is an excellent post, i agree wholeheartedly.
If Verstappen is going to get a five seconds penalty for being ahead of Hamilton for 10cm for 0.1 seconds, despite not gaining a lasting advantage and giving the position back, then they need to also retrospectively apply a five second penalty to Hamilton for lap 1.
If you penalise Verstappen for a much more minor offence and don't penalise Hamilton, then effectively they've not applied the rules in a fair way and Red Bull will no doubt sue then for stewards who have made an error that has cheated their driver out of the championship.
The apparent safety car incident that has been mentioned a few times over the last 3-4 pages...
No way. Max would have been far more behind. Had to make that distance and then overtake…no way
Mercedes have got a QC here and their barrister is now the one making the threats apparently.
So much for winning the race on the track.
A nothing issue that the Mercedes fans are clinging to. Drivers have been playing chicken with the safety car all season and in fact for years. Nothing happened then and nothing will happen now. If it does then it'll be an utter utter disgrace.
Hamilton has the title.
Just seen reaction of Horner who has a face like thunder.
Nice to see Mercedes' true colours coming to the fore. So much for their talk of wanting to win on track, and they had solicitors and barristers ask ready to go.
‘a nothing issue Mercedes fans are clinging onto’ - I presume you can back this up? I haven’t seen one person here say Max should be punished for that.
A disgrace if true.
Notting will happen. Even if he is called to the stewards. Stewards have called him just to get Mercedes of there back. Even if he does get a 5 sec penalty. Red Bull will want investigation why Hamilton got a lasting advantage for cutting a corner and taking the lead back.
All this is hot air.
I can see why Massi didn’t want it to end under an SC but when you read the regs around what’s supposed to happen with lapped cars in that situation Mercedes definitely have a case here. It’ll depend on whether or not Massi has the right to actually do that as race director but I can’t see the FIA not backing him and allowing a championship to be won off the track. I’m personally delighted to see Max win it. Him and RB have had a better season overall and they out stategised merc again today so although the circumstances of the result are potentially questionable I think the result is fitting.
But the rules weren't followed.
You either follow them, or don't.
Entertainment is not owed to anyone.
Masi fúcked Mercedes here. It really is that simple.
Coming out now 😬
A little bit to be fair haha. But all season posters have been moaning about Hamilton and conspiracies against Verstappen so that can be parked now forever.
They would have if Masi hadn't decided he gets to make up whatever rules he wants to.
They might have wanted to win it on track but would obviously be happy enough to win it in the Masi's office. I don't blame the for trying. Its a 1 in a million shot to overturn the win but its the only chance they have. That's the game.
The real People's Champion!
He fcuked them by not allowing Lewis to win a championship under a SC? I seem to remember Lewis being ahead when the SC ended. What happened?
Laughable that Mercedes now complain about Verstappen being ahead by 10cm for 0.1 seconds and not gaining a lasting advantage but what Hamilton did was far far more advantageous.
The rules weren't followed a lot this season and each time which ever side were crying over it were called out and called names.
the argument constantly thrown about was "this is racing" and "this is the most exciting year F1 has had in ages suck it up"
if Merc want to get into the nitty gritty i'm fairly sure Red Bull could do likewise and Merc will still lose out so all they are doing to raining on Max's/Red bulls/Räikkönen's day and making it all about them (the irony after what Toto has said about Horner) Merc are showing themselves to be the ultimate hypocrites and the ultimate sore losers here imo.
The FIA cant be THAT stupid.
The lap shouldn't have happened according to the rules.
All the lapped cars should have been put through, according to the rules, or none.
Those are the rules he fooked out the window to hand max the title.
5 second penalty for Verstappen would save the face of the FIA, even if it's ridiculous as he gained no advantage.
Lewis lost, everyone needs a bit of karma for their behaviour yeah !!!! he brought politics into the sport and no one likes that so karma for that.
At the 2016 Abu Dhabi race Hamilton drove slowly and deliberately backed up Rosberg into the pack behind. He had to be repeatedly told not to do it from the pit wall but ignored them. Utter hypocrite.
Even if that is the case, Red Bull would have argument hat they were then disadvantaged because they were not given the opportunity to race the final lap even if all lapped cars could unlap.
To me it seems to hinge on whether or not Massi has the authority to do that.
Verdict expected here shortly
