Well my taught on it was he let the 5 out as they were between it and the rest were in safe positions. It still didn't just hand it to Max as he still had to get past Lewis

I honestly don't think they'd protest like what Mercedes are doing on the safety car. They had a very clear case to protest the lap 1 incident and there was no indication that they would after it was clear that Masi wasn't listening to them.
I haven't liked either Horner or Wolff to be honest. Horners comments in Qatar about the double yellow waving marshals was unacceptable in my view. Whatever you think about race control, the marshals who's job it is to keep the track as safe as possible should be untouchable. Doesn’t matter how many championships Mercedes-Benz have won, they are entitled to fight hard for everyone every year.
You can bet they’re not at all discouraging the protest!

The worst thing about all of this is how unnecessary it was.
If Masi had determined that no cars were to unlap themselves and the race was to restart, that would have been justifiable and personally I think Verstappen would have caught Hamilton anyway. None of those cars were going to get in Verstappens way, he would have breezed past them and be right up on Hamilton pretty damn quickly.
Instead we get a clear rules violation from the race director and a big asterisk against Verstappens first championship.

Yeah the two teams have completely different philosophies, Red Bull do their racing on track and have repeatedly took incredibly unfair decisions on the chin while Mercedes will resort to any means necessary to win no matter how unsavoury.
So if that is how they judge it, why should Hamilton be handed the win and Verstappen deprived the last lap that he would have had because of a mistake that was not of his own making? That would mean that a bad decision by the stewards has unfairly penalised Verstappen.
Also if Verstappen is going to get a five seconds penalty for being ahead of Hamilton for 10cm for 0.1 seconds, despite not gaining a lasting advantage and giving the position back, then they need to also retrospectively apply a five second penalty to Hamilton for lap 1.
If you penalise Verstappen for a much more minor offence and don't penalise Hamilton, then effectively they've not applied the rules in a fair way and Red Bull will no doubt sue then for stewards who have made an error that has cheated their driver out of the championship.
Even if the lapped cars pulled over to the side immediately following the restart, there was no way Verstappen was going to make that gap up and overtake in a lap and a half.
I think it was just really bad luck for Hamilton

I think he would. Hamilton finished 2.5 seconds behind over just one lap, his tyres were gone and I think Verstappen would have caught him.
The stewards didn't even think it was worth investigating so it's a protest from Mercedes which is typically unsporting of them. If the stewards do anything here then it sets the precedent for teams to protest every little thing next season. I expect nothing to come of this.
This is all ridiculous. Whether you agree with what happened or not, the race finished as it is. FIA can't penalise RB and Max for their own mistake. If they apply a 5 second penalty to push Max back it's their get out of jail card / Get Merc off their back

You’re comparing apples and oranges (and dogs and cats). The third question is a non sequitur.
Questions like, Is there any x?, are just enquiring if a particular set is empty. But in the statement, ‘Any car that is lapped…’, it’s specifying the membership of a set as containing all those objects that qualify.
