Bring! It! On!
The conspiracy theory forum is thataway ----->
Masi needs to go. The race director should never be the centre of attention and he's been far too embroiled in controversy to come back next season.
and give a clear pass to Hamilton on lap 1.
These things have a habit of balancing themselves out, to use a bit of soccer parlance.
Nah. We always talk about wanting races decided on the track and not by the lawyers.
Like I said, the conspiracy theorists are the ones who need to shut up now. Max was handed that win after being significantly second best all race, and fair play to him.
To be fair, he'd have been behind.
So either way, Max was winning from that point.
My thoughts are thus.
Michael Masi just had the most pressurised moment of his working life and he had an impossible choice between the principle of 'let them race' and the rule that has been posted above.
I believe, in letting an incomplete field regain their position before green flagging the race once again, he compromised that rule and what happened is now void. I think Mercedes will win an appeal on that point.
However Mercedes do not deserve it, they bottled the last minute tyre change when Red Bull went for it and all else being equal, they threw it away.
But, once the lawyers are all done, I think Hamilton and Mercedes will hold the championship trophies.
God bless Michael Masi all the same, you'd want the wisdom of Solomon in those circumstances.
I haven't heard the official reason but pure speculation on my part. Nothing mechanical was wrong, they wanted him gone at the safety car restart so other drivers knew Max was the only Red Bull on track and stayed out of his way
"It’s a motor race, we went car racing,” Michael Massey told Toto Wolff
And he is dead right. There should be a rule against finishing on a yellow (yes I know there isn't right now). It's a sport people watch to be entertained which F1 forgot for too long.
The whinging from the same people that said that Lewis driving Max off the track at Silverstone was a racing incident and wasn’t intentional is a joy to behold now. No Michael no no no wha wha wha….
Yup, has precedent, should have been done as soon as latifi crashed.
Let's not forget Checo's epic defending that helped Max catch up. That played a huge part today and kept the pressure on Mercedes.
Red Bull played a blinder today all round.
Max won. Give it a rest lad.
But if that was the desired outcome, then red flag, tyre changes all round, grid restart and 4 laps racing was the way to go.
This was just so unsatisfying
It’ll be a brave person from sky who approaches toto to ask him if will come on air live.
I don't know. What Masi did was a joke, if a stink is made about it leading to his removal that would be better for the sport in the long run.
Christian Horner should resign and move to broadcasting, its clear that talking to the media is his first love.
That's just wrong
What he did was make up it, deliberately cheat merc, and give max an easy pass.
Toto Vs Masi coming up next year in UFC would be some box office
Pretty ridiculous way to decide a world title, I understand the rules and what the racing director said but it kind of stinks to end it that way, and Iam a red bull fan but that was a weird one, doesn’t attract the casual fan
Man oh man
The race director wanted the contest to finish as a race.
Fair **** to him.
And Ham was very gracious as well.
Someone suggested they did it to make it clear to all the drivers that it was max in the red bull behind them.
Show me on the rules where it says only the lapped cars between 1st and 2nd need to unlap?
You can't cause that isn't in the rules. Masi deliberately cheated merc.
Wasn't able to watch, just caught up with some of the highlights. Delighted for Verstappen, feel like he was the best driver over the season. Stewarding is terrible, but I think karma won out in the end.
Horner appears and Hill disappears
Why does toto sound like Alan rickman playing dev in the movie Michael Colins.
Latifi crashed at literally the perfect moment. One lap earlier or later we wouldn't have had this.
Most likely 😅
Mercedes do need to let this go though. It does nobody any good if they try to take this further.
I just don’t want to hear any more bullshit about the stewards favouring the Mercs. People conveniently ignore that Horner was complaining about the decision not to let the lapped cars through and then complain about Toto doing lobbying as well.
No, it's all or none.
