That VSC was very bad for Mercedes, I can see Max winning this, even if there is another safety car.
Max is going to eat into that lead. With 5 laps to go, Hamilton's tyres won't be too good at all.

why is max on mediums. surely softs would be better. they say they last 20 laps but there is 18 left

I’ve no idea but I doubt that the team wouldn’t have told him so they wouldn’t get caught out for speeding under a VSC. Mercedes aren’t rookies.
I reckon Hamilton has too big a gap, hard to see Max reeling him in unless his tires really fall off a cliff

Hards just allows him to pretty much push as hard as he wants. Mediums could drop off earlier and softs definitely would

Martin brundle made a good point, as to why did Mercedes ask Lewis about tyre choices under a safety car and then not do anything when a VSC happened.

He got fúcked a bit at the start, and now the motor racing gods have basically leveled it up, if not favoured him slightly.
I would say Max should win from here.
If Hamilton holds him off, depending how it unfolds, that would be one of the great wins.
