It’s just sad that we’ve got to this point in F1. We should be applauding that overtake, not reprimanding it.

You're missing the point, Hill is always pro Hamilton regardless of situation or circumstance. But in this case even he thinks its a bad call.

Even Damon bloody Hill sees what went on. Yet some here are even MORE blinkered than him and blame Max. Hilarious carry on.

No he chose to go off, max was first to corner.

    Sin sin.

Am I right in thinking that you can take a shortcut which saves you half a second, build up a second lead, slow down so the second car is only half a second and then just take off?

You really see the utter fanaticism of some of the posters on this thread when they try to justify Hamilton stealing first place with that shortcut by making up alternative realities.

From the onboard of Verstappen its pretty clear. Hamilton gained a massive lasting advantage which he didn't give back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,480 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Not really. Think it just illustates the most biased Hamilton fan can actually admit THAT was wrong.

Its only those with industrial strength blinkers that will blame Max.

Verstappen got the car in first, he might have kept it in the white line but it was fairly aggressive so Hamilton had nowhere to go he had to go wide other wise it would be a collision. Correct decision, let them race and decide the championship on track

    Max getting skewed again

    Max stayed on the track.

Making apex has nothing to do with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 466 ✭✭Probes

He did make the apex, unless you’re suggesting anyone who tried an overtake needs to make the apex like it’s a normal corner? We may as well kiss overtakes goodbye then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,845 ✭✭✭quokula

If you’re driving a Mercedes, yes. You can also be in second before taking the shortcut and be in first after taking it, and not have to give the place back.

Think the pressure is getting to Max...seems to be complaining a lot.

Red bull should have Perez doing the same move on Max so he can cur the corner as well and gain time

    Lol

Level as they begin to turn in, verstappen ahead at the apex, verstappen stays on track, Hamilton never attempts to stay on track, completely cuts the corner and opens up a huge gap.

Then he's asked to give back "some" of the advantage. So he went off track and gained an advantage and that advantage is still going on.

Hard to take this serious at all.

I know this thread will be dozens of pages of loons whinging about cheating and conspiracies, but again maxes tyres render it all window dressing anyway.

Hamilton would be past him by now anyway, assuming max didn't hit him on the way past of course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 860 ✭✭✭kazamo

that would be the Hamilton rule you are referring to

If I play F1 2021 on PC and I go that way around, I get a time penalty and have to hand places back for an illegal overtake and corner cutting.

Verstappen’s tyres gone already. That’s 2 weekends in a row that Verstappen has made absolutely crucial errors in qualifying which will cost him the race.

Look whichever side you're on its just a shame if a title might be decided by poor stewarding. Even if it stays as is, Lewis probably had the pace to win it anyway but now there will be a question mark over his win

    Jesus, Leclerc!

its the not giving back the advantage that I’ve an issue with and seems that even most on sky think the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,480 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Be handy if they decided Lewis needed to be on the feckin track.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,810 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

The more is see it the more it's a BS call by the stewards. Hamilton gained a huge advantage.
