Four part series, with Olivia Colman in a pickle from Dec 6.
Me reading the OP.. ah right, Olivia Colman.. shur let's check this out
Me pausing the trailer at 30 seconds to come back.. Also David Thewlis
and it's called Landscapers... they gonna be killing people ain't they
Well that looks exactly like I thought it would! 😁
I'm guessing they are supposed to be the Wests.
Edit. No they are based on two other murders I hadn't heard of.
Landscapers is on Sky Atlantic on Tuesday December 7th
Full trailer's up. Looks rather good.
The feel of performances from Olivia Colman and David Thewlis look top notch!
2 episodes in (halfway through it so)...its done so well. Coleman and Thewlis are great. Itching to finish it now
Watched the first episode tonight. We enjoyed it. The 2 leads are great.
1: Top performances out of Coleman and Thewlis. Not sure how the story is going to go. Currently feels like
a show of two side. The cops are dark humour.. but oh jeez.. Coleman and Thewlis feels like they are going to deliver a powerhouse of sad-feels. The intro had it looking like it's a case of they've been convicted but it's all under appeal. The ending might be left in doubt. Oh that could be a sad one!
Halfway through part 4. Superb performances by them both. Really well made program
This is brilliant, I'm really enjoying it. The dark humour is especially welcome.
It's so refreshing to see a different approach to drama. Great writing and production and acting.
It was written by Olivia Colman's husband, Ed Sinclair.
2: Jeeez! I'm glad I'd just gotten a hot cuppa and was wrapped around it for that ending!
Devastatingly powerful performances out of Coleman and Thewlis!
Also hats off to the make-up artists/wardrobe/location-specialist for the differences in look between the present/past.
Awe this is gonna suck if they get locked away but it all is left with this as the how-it-all-went-down
She is on some wave, one of best actresses around
Complete thrash of a show, utter sheite, how it ever got financed in the real world of profit and loss makes me wonder, unworthy to put my piss against, I gave it 3 episodes.
I thought the reviews for this were generally positive?
Watched it during the week. Story was, I felt, dragged across the four episodes. Felt sorry for the female character but that was probably down to Colman's acting.
Directing, cinematography etc. was great, some nice original stuff in it. Really interesting way of making a murder show.
That fourth episode I thought was awful, almost going off in some Twin Peaks style weird direction
This was an interesting basis for a story but it was dragged out. Could have been a two parter and didnt benefit much from the flights of surreality at times.
Couldn't finish 4th episode - wasn't great. Looked up online to see what happened to them. Tried to do it different way but too much for my liking in the end.
3: Wow, well done to Coleman here. The show broke the 4th Wall and wrecked immersion in the show but Coleman just roped it back there with that scene about the horse and horizon at the end.
I get the eerie feeling that the unfolding of events has come pretty close to an end at this point and that the show might just try to leave the audience in doubt at the end
Note to self: try to remember not to use an e in Olivia Colman! 🙂
Finished! Not sure this show wanted to make a call on the main events themselves. Overall, I'd say this this was a very impressive performance out of Colman. Thewlis did well too but every time it felt the show might have lost the audience, her performance was just so absorbing it felt like it would be enough to get the audience back.
4: That kind of went much as expected in the in-story world. Then between the 4th wall breaking and the extra world added in.. I dunno, I can kind of see how maybe the showmakers were trying to say they didn't know anything for sure but also here's a kind of metaphor for how the Edwards had it all in their own heads.. or at least Colmans character.
I liked how
them riding the horse at the end was like how Colmans character described about the couch and the wall.
Really enjoyed the first 3 but struggled with episode 4. Felt a bit dragged out and the 4th wall stuff seemed to have ran its course by then
