24 Carlsberg for €15 ^^^ - that's got to be a new low?
Probably😏🍺
Did you mean caskmates, the black barrel is 30
I've not seen Penfolds ?
I picked up a bottle last year, can't remember which store, one of the Tescos on northside Dublin.
Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet 75Cl - Groceries - Tesco Groceries
honestly, that depends on the store. I used to agree, but Ive been looking at the same old same old wines in my local Dunnes for ages now.....
Got some of that vineyards merlot/shiraz wine in tesco for 3.33. I guess it's fine for that price.
Also some seltzer reduced to 1e. But sold out. Clearances coming up to D-day should be interesting
Hi I'm going up the North tomorrow, does anyone know where to get the best drink deals?
And where would you recommend for some Christmas shopping ? Thanks

Put in a random address and phone number and they'll email you one.
Sainsbury and tesco probably your best bet.
Check the supermarket websites, I was up 2 weeks ago and Sainsbury's had 25% off 6 or more bottles of wine but spirits weren't great value. I prefer Sprucefield to Newry but even still plenty of the shelves were empty.
Friend goes to Asda for beers, said it's usually cheaper

8 cans of Heino in Dunnes for 12 quid or a tray of 24 for 18 euro. Tray opened can num one going down well. Happy Friday everyone.
Fundamentally is there any particular reason for the current low prices? 15 euro for a slab of Carlsberg and 17 euro for 70cl bottle of smirnoff for example is exceptional. My understanding is that MUP is coming in in January.
Second question bought a slab of Guinness and San Miguel any reason why Guinness slab has a year less sell by date (this seems typical...)

Is Lidl’s 12 beers of Christmas stocked anywhere, not appearing in my local as yet.
I saw it in my local store (Greystones) during the week, but it was before 10am so I couldn't buy it, stupid licensing laws... what do they think, that I'm going to go and neck 12 bottles of craft beer in the carpark?
I opened a bottle of the Abrahan scotch from Lidl yesterday. It’s very pleasant.
Fruit cakey, slightly sweet and there’s a very small hint of smoke. The whiskey itself is not at all harsh which is mental for a €20 whiskey.
A lot of people think all scotch is mad Smokey/peaty. This is not that at all. As I said it has a very small hint of smoke but it in no way resembles anything like an Islay whiskey.
If you’d told me it was a €30-€35 bottle I’d have believed you.
I’ll be picking another bottle up the next time I go for a Lidl shop.
As a matter of interest. Has anyone tried the Dundalgan single malts. I wouldn’t mind trying the stout cask one and see how it compares to the Jameson Caskmates Stout. Which I think is gorgeous.
tho that scotch has me thinking g twice sounds a nice drop but can’t shake my prejudices. Maybe tho for crack

Yeah our off licence times need a serious review now, god forbid you’d be out doing your shopping on a Sunday morning before 12:30 instead of at mass or kissing the bishops ring 🙄. Ridiculous in this day and age.
Uuuh,the bishop's ring sounds like a bad whiskey-maybe best avoided🤔?
Maybe a bit low brow for the refined connoisseurs of the boards.ie bargain booze thread but Lidl are selling their Rachmaninoff vodka for €9 for 70cl, its the blue bottle which I believe is slightly more "premium" than the red version, perfectly fine vodka tbh and nice and smooth for 40% instead of 37.5, it'll do for house parties anyway. Im stocking up a few cases while the goings good, €9 for something that would beat Smirnoff in a taste test? Never thought we'd see these prices in this country again, tbh I thought they were illegal these days...
It’s the MUP nonsense coming in, who is going to pay 1.50 for a can of Galahad? 🤷♂️
Wasn’t €9 in my lidl when in today.
I got a couple last week as it reduce from regular ~ €16 down to €12. Something,
it’s alright aswell
Ill take a pic when I go back for more tomorrow, Im in Limerick.
Cheers
will be checking tomorrow
I don’t drink vodka but that’ll set you back €22 in Jan 😢
