Yeah but to put it into context, the equivalent of an electric Ford Kuga wasn’t 70k back then either.

in the electric car world I think that i4 might be not unreasonably priced ?

Just goes to show how conditioned and subjugated we have become to high prices of cars in such a short period of time. The only real winners here are the manufacturers, financial institutions and the tax man imo, certainly not the buyer.

Very much so but even at that not too many people are going out buying new houses every few years. They tend to be a long term investment for most, how many homes would you own in your lifetime compared to a car?

Your pal's M340i came up on my instagram feed Joe. Cheaper than I thought at 67995 euro.

The video of the car says they are putting it up on Instagram for their followers 24 hours before putting it up on their website to give their followers first call on it!

    Oh I see it!

I was wondering why it hadn’t appeared online until now, I was thinking maybe they’d already had a buyer for it.

€68K. I don’t think he paid that much for it originally.

You don't see too many G20 with this high spec, not sure about the Mocca interior with Portimao Blue though. Might work better in the flesh than from photos though.

    Super spec on that 330i.

330i probably the sweet spot in the range really. Mocha wouldn’t be my first choice interior but actually looks classy in reality certainly better than the pictures. I have the laser lights on mine and love them especially this time of year.

    that will sell quickly

Thinking about it, the 330i Bazz posted is good value compared to this. You really would need to want that six pot engine.

A different beast altogether to be fair. Would someone in the market for a M340i really be looking at a 330i as an alternative? I'd say probably not.

That brown interior is a bit of an acquired taste too. Maybe it’s nicer in the metal, but definitely looks off in those photos.

    Used 2018 (182) BMW 4 Series 440i M Sport Coupe in Kerry (carzone.ie)

a really lovely 440i coupe here. Pricey, but a great spec, colour combination with merino leather and the two year BMW warranty can be priceless on a car like this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,904 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

That's certainly the nicest 440i to come up for sale so far and the original owner seems to have ticked nearly every option on it. They seem to be coming out of the woodwork at the moment, didn't think there were that many of them here. That's the one to go for if you don't need rear doors.

Cars with otherwise massive depreciation are not getting hit so hard, so it’s a good time to get out of them, depending on what you’re getting back into of course

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,244 ✭✭✭digiman

Really nice spec on this car, will be interesting to see the price.

in other news, my i4 m50 is not coming to 2023 apparently, an msport i4 40 versus on should be near next year though, but I’m not switching to it. If a Taycan appeared in the same price range next year, BMW could lose a sale due to their delays!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,794 ✭✭✭sk8board

Do you get the feeling that they’re mass producing the 40 and not the 50? I would’ve thought the production model recently had been to lead with the more expensive models for early adopters

i think the cheap taycan will be the rwd already available i cant see them going lower than that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,244 ✭✭✭digiman

I'd be thinking of picking one up which is 1-2 years old. No chance a brand new one will come into the same price range as the i4.

2023! I thought you had your order for March delivery. is there a hold up or is it reduced supply due to chip shortage?

I agree with Cyrus that Porsche won't go any lower with the Taycan. They certainly have no need to as they can sell all they make.

That 5 series is a 50k plus car possibbly 55k in the current market I guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,617 ✭✭✭JoeA3

My buddy was told the same. BMW Ireland have sold all their 2022 allocation of i4 m50's. Colm Quinn (and probably other dealers) had to return deposits. There are no more available unless they get some of UK's leftovers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,179 ✭✭✭carsfan2

Actually just googled laguna seca blue. Not sure it will look good on a 5 series.

There is a 2017 540i for sale @ 45k from a small independent dealer. So I'd imagine one a year younger from a BMW dealer will be at least 10k more and you can probably add another 5k onto that given it's Quinn's selling it. So my guess would be around 59k/60k.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,244 ✭✭✭digiman

They never gave any confirmed date when I ordered it, I was just told it would probably be around March/April. But they got their allocations confirmed recently and they only got 6 apparently. In any case I'm not in any major rush, no option for now only to wait. Unless one comes available here or in the North as an ex-demo, but then it's unlikely to be the spec I want so may as well just wait it out.

I still have the itch to get a 3L, and if something came up for reasonable value I'd consider it until the i4 came along.

Just did the same and I agree. Not a fan of the colour going by online images. It's the blue version of those horrible flat greys that are very popular now on VW and Audis (nardo grey i think?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,387 ✭✭✭✭Cyrus

it has been around a long time, i kinda liked it on the e46 m3 personally, but preferred estoril.

Someone obviously really wanted it for that 5 series, must have been a 4k cost option.

Here is the 540i in Quinns:

    Is that not Mediterranean Blue?
