Hi , just wondering if full Irish car driving licence will cover me to ride trike in ireland and in UK , past test in 2001
Is there a stat code on your licence beside the A class?
no what does this mean
On your license & the back of your newer card type shows what you are licensed to ride. Check it.
You're not entitled to ride a trike
what about the grandfather rights
What grandfather rights? IIRC the only vehicles you could use with a car licence where cars/vans, works vehicles and mopeds( if you got the B licence pre Oct 2006).
BTW if you are looking to get a trike the licence is the least of your problems. Getting it insured will be the difficult bit.
thought pre 2013 trikes were classed as car , so car licence covered them
If you don't have code 79.03 (iirc) you are not licenced to ride a trike, you may be entitled to it upon licence renewal.
As another member said good luck with the insurance, you'll have a great time sorting that out. It's a specialist market for bikes and smaller again for trikes. Plus you have 0 experience on one presumably.
Trikes combine the worst aspects of cars and bikes, unless you're unable to ride a bike I really can't see why anyone would want them, and that's from someone who drives a car and rides a bike.
ok thanks for info
Depending on age of rider and previous history (older the better) Carole Nash will cover it.
I've enquired of them every year, as I intend to trike either something I own or buy in a suitable frame.
Their response has always been encouraging.
Sounds good will try them
Code 79.03 says restricted to trikecycles
Any full category B licence issued before 19/1/2013 entitles you to ride a trike.
Trikes, the worst of both worlds ………….. You can’t filter in traffic & when it rains you get wet. 😂
Don't forget not having the protection of a car or comfort features.
that interesting never knew that , not that i ever want to ride a trike !😂
BANNED
😜
We're talking trikes here not bikes haha
They've all the draw backs of a car mixed with the draw backs of a bike.
If I have to sit in traffic on a freezing day with no hope of filtering I want my climate control and heated seats haha.
not bothered about the weather , well used of that , good to here my car licence covers me
And those car licence cover me in uk
