I'd imagine it is for operational rather than political reasons. AMS is a significant European destination for the airline, dating back to the large presence that Northwest had there, before being taken over by Delta.

Looks to be two go arounds due to the wind and then diverted to BHX. Looks to be scheduled to try Dublin again. Standard operating procedures allow two go arounds and then they have to divert to another airfield.
hi, when the other US and ME bound aircraft are able to use 34/16 any particular reason they would want the longer runway?

Jesas lads if this storm was 2 years ago, this thread would be hopping, used to be a great evenings entertainment with this thread, fr24 and live atc.
The new version of Boards has been problematic for me since its introduction. There are some great new features but overall I've stayed away.
I agree though, in the good old days there would be pages and pages to go through after a storm!

The general thread on the weather forum was pretty active, but riddled with trolls. Moderation is practically non-existent these days due to the mod tools being broken (great foresight there lads) and reams of posters take maximum advantage and drive many of those who want to actually discuss the topic away
The ability to post pics direct from my laptop to boards is 100% better than having to sign up to and "host" the pics on some random site. Just because you can't think of any new features doesn't mean they're not there!
You never had to do that, you just attached the image and then posted the link to the attachment as the image link
The big advantage of doing that was the pictures didn't disappear a few months later on the whim of said random site
Anyway if that's the best thing which can be said for the new site...

I do, especially if I can't find anything on FR24 and I can hear a distinctive military drone. Amazing to have a general look at it as well and see what's up around the world.
