Is anyone else hearing a sustained low rumble in Cork City? Sounds almost like an aircraft, but definitely isn’t. Sounds of this storm are unusual.

Ryanair 737 headed off to Birmingham, just a few mins ago FR3737, but don’t think that’s what I heard. Have been hearing a similar sound intermittently.

Wouldn't fancy being on that flight today.

Rain stopped and wind eased now that the squall line has passed over - Waterford

Have you seen the weather in Orange areas, do you still think schools were overdramatic, because I most certainly dont.

Well it might stop you boring the face off of people on this thread. Get composing that email to the department.

This storm is worse already here in Dublin than Ophelia.

Gusts in last few minutes are scary.

It's ferious out there, definitely right call to close schools + colleges.

Spare a thought for the nutjobs who pick today of all days to try out their new chainsaw they bought down the middle aisle in Lidl.

Anyone here in Limerick city environs? Nothing too bad here. Did have to take the bird feeder done and put away some tarp that was blowing merrily around the back garden.

Just outside Sligo town. My very reliable barometer is reading 955. Violent winds.

Hmm and I thought the behaviour and outrage on some of the COVID threads was bad! Relax, my absolute last post on this - stay safe now.

My nephew lives in Dublin. A wet and very gusty morning. By Dublin standards, it's a strong event.

In an exposed area here a few miles outside Kinsale. Wind is really picking up now and just starting to rain. Trees are literally bending in the wind. I’m watching the electricity/telephone poles swaying. Don’t expect to have power for much longer.

The passport control guy earlier this morning was saying its going to be hairy.

I guess they'll make a call if it's safe to go or not in the next few mins.If we don't get out on this one we're in trouble though,Cork,Belfast already cancelled and I reckon the later ones to Dublin will be too. We're already on the road about 30 hours so hoping for the best.

Well said imagine been in a building today with the windows open in that wind ,reports of a tree on a car on Athenry hope everyone is ok. If orange areas go red think of all the extra vehicles travelling to collect children which would be madness. One day staying at home isn't going to affect them academically.

Strong enough gusts in Dublin. Will be wilder than Ophelia for many up here I suspect.

Very rough up here in Dublin 4. Gusting strongly. Was talking to a buddy in North Kildare who says not much happening there.

Power gone here in South Donegal. Ground is also white with hail. Pressure now reading 965.9 and falling fast. Lost wind speed feed overnight.

They must be halted at this stage, I'm beside the airport + it's unreal out there right now!

Good luck with that I'd say. There may be some chance if you're flying to Dub.

Winds feel much stronger here in Dublin than ophelia. I am near the coast and its much more intense.

Ophelia is completely different as it was a hurricane and there were orders for government for everyone to stay at home, not just kids in schools.
