Haven't seen a thread on this. Exceptional value for one of the best TV's you can buy. These were retailing €2k+ when released. Now €1299 in Black Friday sales. Think Power City and Currys doing similar prices. Have the 2020 LG GX 77" in living room and its a beast. Got this 2021 C1 55" for bedroom.
I went for the Philips from Harvey Norman. It seems to be a nice bit of kit for the current price. Replacing a 14 year old Philips 40 inch. Should be some difference 😜
That room must be massive, I always assumed 77" would be overbearing but fits there lovely.
I went for LG but would love the ambilight effect...probably can buy something external. Must check.
Me too! Ordered yesterday.
Price went up 80e
i bought led strip lights for my 75 inch lg. They light up 2 sides and top. go on and off with tv because they are usb powered.
Damn that is a great price OP
1399 now. have i missed the boat?
Got the philips 55'' OLED for 799e.... it's great, first OLED in our house and the picture quality is some jump.
Also really enjoying the Ambilight effect; thought it was a bit gimmicky, but actually makes the viewing experience for movies etc. better
Bit cheaper on richersounds
Not really on sale at all.
Colour matched to screen?
LG C1 Warranty is Parts only. No Labor after year 1. Got a Sony 80J because of better sound, PQ and warranty which covers everything.
Yup. Go to a store they may offer a 1299. It is OOO in most. Remember LG warranty does not cover labor after year 1. Sony does.
They won't be. Still, I have them on my bedroom tv and they still add a nice touch.
You can get a kit that will colour match an HDMI input, but that means using something like a firestick instead of the built-in apps on the TV.
Harvey Norman do price match I seen it in expert in Galway for 1299 so if your closer to Harvey Norman or I think Curry's also price match you could try that
Anyone know if this tv is wall mountable?
yeah can be wall mounted, just to note the fixings are on the lower part of the tv. The tv won’t sit flush with the wall due to the hump on back of the tv
Same. Hung it last night. Picture quality is excellent. Ambilight is beautiful. It lifts the entire room. Great lighting.
Bought a LG OLED55BX6LB for the front room last year ~1200 on sale at the time. No complaints from that TV. It is what was advertised. Great picture. Nice software.
Android looks good on this. Small feature I liked was the Google smart passwords was on it. Instantly logged into my apps which was nice on setup. Think at 800 this was a great price and still an equal of not better alternative to the LG at 1k.
No. I just leave mine on blue.
You can get lights that use a camera to change the colour but they are expensive and who wants an ugly camera sticking out from the top of their TV.
Thanks for this! I'm in the market for a new 55 inch TV to replace a 8 year old samsung 49 inch. Looking at the LG one referenced in the OP, and also came across this one: https://www.heavins.ie/p/lg-55-4k-oled-smart-tv--oled55a16la/10968?gclid=CjwKCAiAhreNBhAYEiwAFGGKPGZjvU_FvfLeKeVBW1FAMywIkTu9A1Nl9DLAh5LwbZ0zQebSWb5NUhoCMakQAvD_BwE
Does anyone know what are the differences between the OLED55a16la and the OLED55C16LA in terms of features that would justify the extra cost for the latter one? Thanks!

Was looking at this in HN's over the weekend, fantastic picture and looked great from an angle they were streaming from Disney plus rather than the demo which was a plus.
I have an older Philips Ambilight and had my heart set on another one, was looking for the 120htz to be on display somewhere and cannot find one to actually see it in action. Very tempted with the LG but wasn't to keen on the OS as I would like an Andriod, anyone got the Philips 48 or 55OLED706 by any chance that can compare ?
Picked up the Philips 806 yesterday - display seems as good as the C1 but haven't had much of a chance for gaming.
I don't really get the whole 'Ambilight' business as I think I'd find it very distracting, this does something similar with Phillips Hue lights:
