You can advise your friend (from memory) it is against DCC rules to keep cockerels in the City. I will have a look later on for where I read it.
Was speaking to rentokill today, said it goes in at night and to put out poison as well as traps. No evidence of it last night
I suggest that you bait the traps with a little bit of fatty rasher/rind that was browned off on the frying pan and make sure you wire it into place with your greasy fingers to disguise the human smell - the feckers can't resist it.
As an aside, 5 or 6 years ago my rottweiler Bella (she is my profile pic) ripped off the front grill, bumper, mudguard, the under skirting around the wheel arch & engine, damaged the bonnet and drivers door with teeth marks on a eight year Combo van to get after a rat in the engine compartment.
Is it 30 or 36 months to qualify for quality assurance bonus in factory?
I think he tried all that but the neighbour is a bit of a wagon. One of those ppl involved with the residents association who your better off not falling out with.
Wear gloves also They will smell humans off the traps and bait and won't touch anything also I think it usually takes a few days for a rat to take to new baits
What's the story with the tb ratings the Dept sent out last year, are they still a thing?
No idea, I've one which says I've the lowest risk, but now I'm on 4 month tests. I've been receiving notifications for years about TB reactors on the same neighboring farm so can't see how they are worth the paper they were printed on.
Don't think there was a story. IMO a public servant ran away with themselves and we all received those letters. As far as I know there has been no talk due to GDPR but stand corrected.
I'm surprised that DAFM are sending letters to neighbouring farmers advising them with details of the name/address/herd number of a herd that is restricted in their locality?
Was talking to a farmer the other day, she said bvd is a terrible problem in her area. Is it true an affected herd can sell again after 6 weeks
Under 30 months for 20 cent bonus.
Under 36 months for 8 cent bonus
I been on that on and off for the last few years. It's a pain the hole. But it can be good as I think it builds up resistance. The only thing is the they are very strick on lumps, no inconclusives.
Ya I had a positive which turned out negative. On the rats and mice, butter they love especially mice
I set traps and baited the car last night. No evidence of roger or Regina today. I scrubbed the car yesterday so it might have “smelt a rat”
A fool is easily parted with his money
People are copping on where the grass grows.
Bitta of Macamore is cheaper than fert now..
You'll find most people buying the land nowadays aren't farmers. More like investors and the likes. Lads hiding money.
Any farmer trying to keep up with that sort of clientele will have the grandkids paying for the land unfortunately
True.
Aneighbour with a huge amount of land is stiil buying land even though he's my age and no one farming. I'd imagine it's purely to transfer wealth to the next generation for reduced tax
A Christmas present for the missus, let the moths out of the wallet.
Typical, heavy, falling drumlin ground in East cavan, sold recently for €17000 a acre. Two dairymen in the locality were the bidders against each other.
The victor has all his land stone mole drained,so probably not finished at just buying it at above price.
That man who told me earlier in the season that "the dairymen are making a fortune this year" must have been right.
There was a large inheritance and a very good off farm business behind that purchase I believe.
Runner up has a serious 6 figure SFP along with milking 400ish cows.
Nearly €1.7 million for 83 acres. Never be paid from farming.
Was talking to the auctioneer last week and he said they were mad.
Any recommendations where to pick up an Owl box in the mid West? Long time thinking about it so want to stick one up
First 2 headlines on the radio news there now was about the upcoming storm, makes a nice change from covid headlines.
Got an invite a while back to head for Tipperary to make real homemade black pudding. Got the opportunity to take up that invite today and had such a great day. What's for sale in the shops isn't a patch on what ya can make yourself. A few pigs definitely in the future here.
At a commission of up to 2%, I'd say he's not one bit worried!
Is it just wind or snow like englamd got?
Talk of 130kph winds and possible flooding
