Armagh game apparently in Breffni on Thursday the 6th now.
There is good pace in the Denn team and lot of power. They mainly run the ball, Downings tactic was to hit O Connor inside , he was isolated a lot of the time. He played Minor and U21 with Donegal. Johnny McCroddy the number 2 playing at half forward was good also. Kicked 4 good points from play. Only 18, playing Minor last year with Donegal.
Denn were much the better team, though Downings didn't help themselves when Mcbride was sent off in the first half.
Denn comfortably the better side. They had 17 wides I think it was and 5-6 dropped short. They won the game by 7 points but I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say they easily should have won it by 15+. Downings I think had at most 3-4 wides.
I’ve watched club football in other counties and I honestly think Denn looked in better shape than senior teams I’ve seen in other provinces.
Corr fielded some great ball
Cavan begin the McKenna Cup away to Armagh on Janurary 6th https://t.co/X1vKJPN6ck
Great win for Denn. They were very wasteful in the first half and should have been been ahead, but were more composed in the second half. Some great performances by Cavell Keoghan, Caolainn McCabe, Gaffney and O Reilly in midfield., James Brady and Oisin Kiernan,
They play the London Champions in a few weeks.
Denn are kicking this game away. 8 or 9 wides and 3 or 4 dropped short. Very disappointing if they lose this game. Drawn game at half time 1-2 to 0-05.
Listening to the radio coverage today, the keeper Sheridan had made a couple of point blank saves already before they conceded the first goal.
Fitzpatrick will be quick to remind everyone now he said that they were weak in defence.
Their defence is too open. They got lucky against An Riocht in the first half .they missed 3 good goal chances, scored 2 in the second half.
Today the defence was badly exposed against better opposition
A right hammering for Butlersbridge in the Ulster Semi Final unfortunately.
Tyrone and Armagh in the McKenna Cup
I wonder what the panel will be this year?, any chance of ciaran brady been back for the league? Shame about paddy Meade I was hoping he would nail down a spot for the coming year a powerful player, hopefully James smith will be back as good as ever he was a huge loss last year.
I believe Cavan are away to Leitrim in the first round of the league , I don’t know any other fixtures.
Did we even get the McKenna cup fixtures?
Any word of any league fixtures being released?
That's a big enough claim in fairness. There is decent players in Cavan and a few can be very good like Sean McEvoy if he sticks at it. Oisin Brady is a good player.
But the reality is Cavan have had 3 consecutive relegation. The underage teams are performing poorly. U20s were hammered by Down. Senior club champions beaten by 11 pts.
The only way is up. Hopefully Denn and Butlersbridge can reach ulster finals .
Any word if new faces around the Cavan camp this year. I still believe of we can get the best players for each position in the panel we can compete with anyone bar Dublin, Tyrone, Kerry and Mayo.
I don't think the partying of the County final can be used as an excuse. The Co final replay was 3 weeks ago, and Cole spoke in the Celt that they were fully focused for the game and played challenge games.
Kilcoos pace and movement was on another level. They are a well conditioned team. They hammered Kingscourt in 2015, https://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/2015/1101/738858-kingscourt-v-kilcoo/
They have been around a good while, lost a few Ulster finals before getting over the line in 201,9 but they will face tougher tests then Ramor. They play the winnners of Watty Grahams/Scotstown in Semi final
Unfortunately, Ramor gave a poor showing in respect of Cavan football. Only for young McEvoy, who scored 1-4 of their 1-8, their much vaunted forward line looked toothless - what will they do next year if he accepts the soccer scholarships offers he has from American colleages?
At least the Bridge and Denn managed to win. Would be great to see some team from Cavan bring back some Ulster silverware.
Ramor very poor. They played like they have never seen kilcoo before. A.team who were in the All Ireland Club final 2 years ago.
Kilcoo.set up defensively and break at pace ,but Ramor were slow with the build up and ended up kicking in aimless balls
Working tonight so didn't make the game. Kilco look like a team that have done their homework and Ramor look like a team that have been on the beer for two out of the past three weeks. I just hope Ramor can stay with them in the second half and make a game off it.
Still if this is the end a good season for a Virginia man. Ramor Champions and Castlerahan relegated couldn't ask for more really.
@SportBeo are streaming the Butlersbridge game tomorrow, for those that can't it.

Ramor v Kilcoo on RTE. hopefully 2 good performances from the Cavan clubs
I think Januray 7th is better. They will have a few weeks work done,. Cavan played Armagh after Christmas in 2019 and were hammered with a make shift team ,and didn't look fit. It was a waste attending that game.
County team went back to collective training last week. They hadn't expected the McKenna Cup to go ahead last I heard but have seen dates for it now so appears it is. It'll be interesting to see what sort of sides the 4 Ulster teams in Division 1 put out because they were the ones didn't want to go ahead - they all apparently argued there wasn't much point in it when they will all be playing each other a few weeks later.
Doesn't start until January 7th which is a pity. I used to like attending a game in the few days after Xmas.
Couldn’t have hoped for a much better draw than that, away to Antrim and Donegal or Armagh in the semi final if we beat Antrim. It’ll be some dogfight in the other half of the draw with Tyrone, Derry, Monaghan, Down and Fermanagh there.
The Provincial draws are tomorrow at 3. Cavan will be playing in the Tailtean Cup if they fail to reach the Ulster final.
One of the finest points ever scored in an Ulster final :)
As clear as day :)
Any word on whether the County Board did anything on this?
Ah, Raymond Cunningham, he scored that brilliant point in the final in 97😎😎
He might not consider playing with Cavan, but if he's a few years playing with Kingscourt and Cavan get up the Divisions he might reconsider it.
Raymond Cunnigham back in the 90s played a few years with Kingscourt and Cavan.
Can’t see him going from Div 2 to 4. His father played for Kingscourt and apparently always wanted him to play for them. Apparently one of Nobber’s best players has gone travelling so they’ve very little chance of doing anything.
