It must be exhausting to have to constantly argue for an incoherent, incorrect and immoral ideology. Perhaps you should consider not doing that?
Grand... because I genuinely don't feel like i'd be missing anything with your habit of arguing against points that you, yourself, have created.
There's been a rash of this nonsense across Irish media, from Sorcha Pollak and her "new to the parish " puff pieces to the Journals "good information project" (EU funded propaganda) writing favourably about migration....all laying the groundwork for the new multicultural Ireland, one thing they won't do though is post the opinion of many of us that can see the disaster coming.
A big hoo haha a few weeks ago about a direct provision centre in Galway serving residents in plastic bags has been found to have been staged. No doubt the journal.ie etc will report this !!
In the meantime 3 quangos have been out to inspect the place, god bless the squandering. The resident that staged the whole thing should be on the next plane out, realistically he'll probably get speeded up for his forever home.
I remember people in this thread saying that this never happened. They just go home and of their own volition apparently.
Ms Goggin outlined how Mr Bammodu, who is originally from Lagos in Nigeria and has no parents, first came to Ireland via a family friend, aged 15, in 2007.
How does that work? How could a minor authorise/bring about the entry of this person?
perhaps you should read the thread more carefully then.
people who have exhausted their asylum applications and are given the option to leave or be deported, most leave.
this individuals story doesn't say anything about asylum applications.
Same chap i think
SNIP.BY POSTER . Why isnt he in a prison awaiting deportation!!!?
Because there's no political will, and the media has continued to be very pro-migrant. Just look at the way the media are spinning the Calais migrant problems, where they're supporting the groups seeking to bring illegal (in the whole EU) migrants from France to the UK. There's no mention of them being illegal, or that France should be deporting them, instead, the focus is on making it safer for them to get to the UK.
This is the attitude now towards migrants of all types. It doesn't matter that they're here illegally. It doesn't matter that many of them are scamming the system or engaging in crime. Nope.. the attention is on how western societies are failing them. It's utterly retarded but nobody is standing up to the media or the overall message being sent.
This guy has been charged and will face some prison time, but likely he'll be out very quickly due to an appeal of some sort... and will return to being cared by the State, irrespective of his actual legal status as an illegal immigrant.
How do you get to Ireland from Spain without a passsport? Just how porous are our borders? https://www.thejournal.ie/spanish-student-court-graffiti-train-dart-5619112-Dec2021/
ID card? It's travel within the EU. What an idiot.
New experimental data from the CSO now estimates Ireland's population at 240,000 higher than the official pre census estimate of 4.96 million.
That's almost another 5% increase in the foreign population bringing it to well into the 20's in percentage terms.
There is absolutely no will among any Irish political parties to have proper immigration controls or control of numbers. The more the merrier seems to be the mantra.
Population now at 5,200,000+ and rising fast.
Didn't even think of an ID card! You're completely right
McEntee on NT earlier talking about her plan to "regularise" illegals in the new year and the only reasons she could offer it were a wish-washy "right thing to do" and "they're already here"
When asked if this is rewarding illegality and will encourage more, she insists no because of the condition of having to have been here at least 3/4 years.
Naturally no thought or suggestion of simply deporting these people, or processing them through our already numerous existing avenues to entry.
How this woman is so highly thought of is beyond me frankly, but she is exactly what is wrong with the new generation of FG - serious long-term and far-reaching decisions based on the "feelz" and social media trends!
She doesn't care, none of them do. Look at the latest CSO experimental estimates, they've found an extra quarter of a million people in Ireland. It's frightening the lack of control of our borders. There is no party opposing this, in fact the only viable opposition party, Sinn Fein, will probably be worse.
It's dis-heartening to see what they are doing, we are one of the few European countries left pursuing this policy of essential open borders, mass immigration and massive cultural change at lightening speed.
The first question I'd have is if they're "undocumented" how does anyone prove they have or haven't been here for at least three or four years? If they were in the system they wouldn't be "undocumented". And that's not the only question I'd raise with McEntee. It's a system rife for abuse. Then again I strongly suspect the only "answers" I'd get in return from her would the usual nebulous non answers along the lines of the wishy washy ones you noted.
Through employment records, medical records, children at school etc.
It's not that difficult
Lol.
How does an illegal immigrant, sorry undocumented, have employment records? If they do does the employer also get off scot free after illegally(is that undocumented too?) hiring someone from the black market, paying cash and not paying tax? It's kinda hard to employ someone legally without a PPS number and if they had that how would they be "undocumented"? And what of landlords taking rent money from the same people as unless they're living with relatives, who would also be harbouring illegal migrants, sorry the undocumented, they're not going have mortgages? Do the landlords also get off scot free? This narrative has more holes than a teabag with extra holes in it.
I have no idea about those things, perhaps direct those questions to the people in charge?
But I would agree with you, anybody who has taken advantage of these people during their time here, should be held accountable.
Except that in many cases, undocumented migrants won't need to register or declare themselves due to the rights available to all people living in Ireland. We don't have any kind of system where all records are shared among departments. The introduction of the PPS code for people was a step towards that, but there are many services which are available without any need for one. Illegals have the right to a variety of services... without needing to change their status.
I'd suggest that you take a look at the range of services that illegals can avail of in Ireland... and also consider some of the articles relating to government departments which stated that they won't keep track of illegals after they've been identified. Even the Gardai, often release illegals back into society after they've been caught, without requiring them to register or become legal.
Hold on a second. So... anyone who takes advantage, or benefits from using illegals should be held accountable... but the illegals themselves shouldn't be held accountable for their choices to live here illegally?
Seriously?
I have never said that. The government has decided to regulate the status of some 17,000 'undocumentated' people here.
So, those people will not be held responsible. I doubt the people who took advantage will be held responsible, I believe they should.
None of this is my decision
In that post, You highlighted those who benefited from the illegals, while ignoring the illegals themselves.
As for anything being your decision, that's irrelevant. This is a matter of opinions on the topic.
How would I answer those questions? Would you suggest I make something up?
I'm not sure what your second question means, but I'll say again, I think anyone who has taken advantage of these people should be held accountable. Anybody.
Just doing some quick math, because I'm a bit of a nerd...
There has been no discussion or debate about this increase of a quarter of million people by any politicians that I know of. Imagine if this happened in another country. It would be the equivalent of America suddenly adding 16,500,000 to their population totals or the UK adding 3,500,000.
Mind-blowing stuff. Clearly someone is benefiting massively, I assume landlords and business people.
The government have decided to regulate the status of those undocumented. Therefore they will not face any consequences. That's obvious. Not hard to understand. As I said, I doubt anyone that took advantage will be held accountable either.
Just agreeing with the start of your post. The "discussions" are depressingly predictable.
"That doesn't happen."
"What about these examples from a cursory Google?"
"Must be something else/I don't know but I'm sure it's fine/It's none of our business/Why do you care?/You're a racist".
I'd say it's more to do with appearing to be "progressive". We've taken the mantle of the right on Tumblr blog of Europe from the Swedes(and look where that got them). Plus it's pretty obvious a fair chunk of our authorities didn't see this coming, didn't prepare for it, didn't see how the birth citizenship thing back in the day would lead to this level of influx, so are papering up their screwups with appearing to be happy with it all and isn't it such a wonderful thing to be so "diverse". It's more optics than anything.
