From last msg from them on 22nd they were on batch 32 OOM 108 ( including 52 people who are on clearance / vetting stage) for Dublin panel .

Just got a quick question for ya'll for the new CO campaigner..
If my choices are:
Am I right in thinking, I could be called for Dublin first if it came up first? Or have you to wait for the first choice to come up first?
Can I ask advice please? I really want to go for the CO campaign but reading the info booklet they say that the interviews will be January 2022, that seems really quick going from reading this thread. People from the 2020 campaign were only interviewed a couple of weeks ago for example.
I am currently studying and am hoping to get a job as a CO (obviously it's very competitive and fingers crossed and all that!) in a year to 18 months. Should I wait til the next intake or should I get myself on the panel now (again fingers crossed I make it that far!) ?

My advise is apply and go through the process of exam and interview. You can always decline an offer but you will gain great experience.

I applied Nov 2019 and only came up for interview in September 2021 others were interviewed months before me so I suppose it depends on your order of merit given from the tests etc
It will have no impact on future applications. Public Service is well used to applicants not accepting an offer for a myriad of reasons including "still studying "
It usually takes a year to a year and a half before being offered a place! It's a long drawn out process..
No, you don't have to wait. My second choice came up first and I accepted it. I was then taken off the panel for my 1st choice.

I can't see Sligo working out for me unless I got into the 200's (i.e. a miracle). So I'd take Dublin over nothing!
Honestly that's station dependant.
People I know there have a great team atmosphere. Sergeant, inspector and super intendant all extremely polite and really nice and call into the office for a chat. Guards apologetic if reminders were forgotten about and totally on the ball with them usually and always up for a laugh.
Maybe the team atmosphere in your station is us vs them but not all ststions are like that.
No working from home but that more down to confidentiality of certain files and the job needing signatures for everything before it's sent on.
Honestly it isn’t I’ve worked in several Stations and I wholeheartedly agree with samsgirl. And I know of several staff in other stations that would agree. I’m delighted that you’ve had such a positive experience but it’s not the case for the majority of staff
You'll get called for whichever region has vacancies appear first. However, if you opt to go forward for interview in one region, they do have a rule saying you'll be dropped from your other region for consideration.
So if Dublin vacancies appear faster, and they call you for interview and selection, you're essentially forfeiting the Sligo panel to go for it.

I really think to get Sligo I'd have to get 200 or less.. In the last competition, I was in the low 1000's..
So if that happens again at least in Dublin I may have a better chance. Thanks again!
@Lena034 have you got through clearance stage . Just wondering as Dublin panel has not moved for past week ( stuck on 108 ) .. reason they say is , there are people on clearance stage that still need to get position 😓😓
Hi@vatsie76, no I'm still going through it at the minute. I was told it could take up to 3 weeks to clear. Hopefully I'll hear something by the end of the week, but I tracked the progress earlier and its still stuck on the part where it was handed over for vetting.
Does anyone know what the actual take-home pay is like for this job? With previous TCO work, I'd likely start on the second rate of 511.61. But I know there's pension deductions and tax and all the other stuff... what's the real take-home pay going to be like?
Does anyone know what maternity leave is like in AGS? Can you take extra leave and do you come back to the same role?
Yes, I covered mat leave for a lady a couple of years ago. From what I gather you can take extra mat leave with a reduce rate or no pay. The lady returned to her role and my TCO contract ended. Things might have changed as this was a couple of years ago.
It's the same as everywhere else, 6 months paid, can take a further 4 months unpaid and I have never heard of anyone not going back to their own job unless they were promoted while off
any one know what the typical pension deductions are? would hope to be clearing €380 a week in hand at least on point one of scale. Can anyone who started recently confirm if this sounds about right?
I started last year and thats about right. Pension is 3% of gross pay I think its around €15 a week.
If anyone has been in a similar situation or can offer some advice on the following I would be grateful. I have been asked for employment references for the last 12 months. For the last 5 months I can provide this but the previous 7 months I was on PUP from a different employment. Is this previous employment while on PUP usuable as a referee (as I wasn't actually working) or would I need to supply the alternative i.e. Welfare/Revenue statement along with character reference. My first issue is I can't get a welfare statement online as I don't have full account access due to having an older pps card. My second issue is what to look/ask for from Revenue. What can Revenue give me that will suffice? Thanks anyone.
Also, to add, I was a volunteer with my current employer for the 7 months I was on PUP. Would that be any benefit in that I could use my current employer as a single 12 month reference and not need any of the others?
I would list your two employers on your reference sheet with the dates of employment. If they need any clarification, they'll let you know.
Hi I am just wondering for anyone that has experience with the CS, is time off/parental leave in the summer hard to get and do temps work in all departments?
You can't get parental leave in the first year afaik but past that I have never had any issue getting shorter working year for summer months
All departments would have temps but your job wouldn't necessarily be covered by a temp if off, our SWY application specifically states that no temps will be taken on to cover so for management to keep that in mind when recommending
