You didn't charge when you got home?
Question: How do you see your car details on the Volkswagen site? I don't have a VIN or Commission number yet, is there any details from the invoice that I can use?
No too late, didn't want to risk waking the boss!
What I was interested in was that the turtle was orange, IIRc from 5% left down, and was orange when I stopped.
At what point would it have shut down on the road, the leaf can go to about 250 watts :)
Do you know where the OBC slot is in the VW, I have the dongle in the leaf but not required now as its used as the town/ short distance runabout
I am abroad for 8 days now, car at Dub outdoors. Coming home on Saturday. 19km lost since I departed, but I think only 2% gone. So obviously gom reporting on app is also temp related.
This seems quite a cold spell for November, last year the days when the range was poor were few and far between for me anyway, not being an early commuter. I could normally rely on 300km safely, with car interior temp at 18.5C and no motorways, driving normally.
Felt sorry for car sitting at airport, was tempted to give her a bit of warmth, but resisted the temptation..😁
2 pics displayed for me?
Do you have a similar warm me up app for the OH?
Haha lol
According to the OH, Brid is my OH😁
I did a winter and summer test last year.... detailed here

Yeah click on the last link to bring up 3rd pic.
I’m doing a long trip this weekend too. Definitely noticing range drop off in recent days but we aren’t travelling much.
OBC slot is slightly left below steering wheel.
Finally, my ID3 Tour is on the way!
Ordered mid-June and car entered production Sept 24 so it’s taken a bit but I’m glad it’s on its way.
Now to collect it in January with some 221 plates!
How's it holding up a year later, any drop off?
Ah I get you now
Carwow did a test where they drove an ID.3 till it died. It's a bit unscientific and you get subjected to Matt "the Pratt" Watson's version of humour, but it did have some interesting results
As I recall the car sat on zero and turtled for ages before it finally died. Seems to have a lot of buffer at the bottom before it shuts down
Another interesting thing was after he left the car for 10 mins or so to ring recovery, he was able to get it moving again for a few hundred metres. Might have been the battery voltage just being on the edge of the shutdown limit, or maybe VW had some cleverness and built in a bit of reserve to help you crawl to a charger
The OBD port is under the drivers dashboard just above the pedals on the left (right side for the ID.4 for some reason). If you're feeling brave you could plug in the dongle and see what the BMS is reporting when the battery is that low
Yup, the joys of EV driving. The Leaf suffered a 20-30% hit in winter, I reckon the ID cars will be around the same
On the plus side, it's a great excuse not to visit the in laws this Christmas 😂
I'm abroad too, parked the car at Belfast Airport on Friday evening, the 19th, with 54%.
Dropped 2% on Monday as I had forgot to turn off the morning preheat, but hasn't dropped anything since then.
So I'll have 52% (about 190km) for the journey back to Donegal.
Mine says 258 km/ 69% but I guess it will drop a good bit as soon as the airplane wheels hit the tarmac at Dub and I turn on the pre heat.😉. Will probably get a 10 min top up at Kill Ionity on way home, about 150km. Would be rude not to, seeing it's still free..😊
I know it's bad, but part of me can't wait for the day that the catalytic converter thieves try to cut open the bottom of an EV only to get blown up or electrocuted or melted by the chemicals in the battery or something
Phil if you come back to the airport and there's only a smoking crater, some bodies and a wrecked Hiace van, then take solace in having done a public service
Arrived at Ionity, Kill South with the turtle showing. 4% battery and 15km range remaining. Was expecting over 100kw speed since I had been driving about 30 minutes. Not a hope, eventually managed to get just over 80kw. The cold is really having a huge effect on the range.
Went in to order an ID 3 today, was hoping they would say 3 months ish. But sadly it seems the wait is 6 months. Should I wait or just go for a different electric car … thinking 🤔
You might aswell get the order on and get into the queue. Things may speed up
Nah they would be too busy warming their hands on his pre heated windscreen lol
Unless you get one that the dealer has in stock you'll probably be lucky to get under 6 months with another car brand as well
Keep an eye on Carzone.ie and if any cars have arrived in stock in any dealers. Be prepared to buy from any dealer around the country, why not. Many will be happy to deliver to you.
I did this in September and bought from Newmarket Motors in North Cork. They were very good to deal with and delivered the car to me in Dublin. What more could you ask for....?! Ok, an act of faith, but you're covered by VW guarantees and can get it serviced at any VW dealer when the time comes.
I suppose at this point you might want to wait to January, but you might just get a really good deal on a car in stock right now.....
Hope that helps you!
Tell me more about the delivery. I’ve an ID4 ordered in Kerry.
It's a black Friday party at Ionity Kill north atm... a Tesla Model 3,Volvo XC40 and my ID3. This is the busiest I've ever seen it. No sale on the juice though 🥳
Thanks all for the comments, I’m going to order and look forward to the new car for the summer. Everything I’ve looked at and test driven really makes me think it’s worth waiting for 👍
Was delivered to me in Dublin. One of the lads from the sales team drove it up, met me at an agreed location, gave me the rundown on the features, and headed off home by train. Great service.
Depends on the dealer, I suppose and what you agree when you do the deal. Donegal dealer was prepared to do the same, but their car was still on the boat and I wanted to move quickly.
Good luck with the Id.4. I'm loving the 3 so far.
Also, check with the dealer for cancellations. OK, you'll be limited in colour choices, but you could get one sooner.
