Got part 1 of 2.3 update on 12th nov. Sent emailto weconnect-support. Reply says i will get email for permission to get part 2. Anybody need to give permission a second time?
Thats about right. In really cold temps, when cabin is pre-heating and the battery is heating it will use about 10kW.... run that for 20mins and that will be about 3kWh's used from the battery which is about 5% of the battery.
Plugged in and a departure time set, is the way to go.... if you can.
Car now stuck in production for two months, losing hope of collecting this January 3rd!
Mine was production week 45. I don't see my vin number in we connect yet. It's such a long wait. Ordered early August
Nope. Got part one on Sunday and part two today (Tuesday).
Wasn't manual preheat if you had read my post properly! 😛 Shame on you!
I had depart timer set this time to depart 6am.
I was just surprised it heated the battery while not plugged in.
I did read it. I was referring to your reference to "yesterday I only preheated manually"... shame on you for not reading your own post! 😜
Chancer! 🤪
Shame on me, I didn't read anybodys posts and just came in to say 'Hi'. 😲
Actually, on the ID.4 chat I saw comments that VW are planning several updates to models built later this year. If that is happening, then I'm crossing my fingers even more for the rumoured ID.3 updates (bigger screen, illuminated sliders) as I'm presuming mine has now pushed out to BW50 with the week-long pause at VW this week.
I never thought at the start of this year that I would become so familiar with automotive production, shipping and distribution methods. 😄
Trip complete:-
Distance - 316km (saved a few km's coming down the west side of lough Neagh)
Travel Time - 4h18m
Average speed 75km/h
Consumption - 18.8kw/h
Outside temp - Started at about 6°C dropping to 4°C
Aircon set to about 22°C and using travel assist most of the way sticking to speed limits.
16% battery and 74km's left on return so not too bad. No wind and rain as such so would expect a drop in range if conditions were worse.
Out of interest when did you order the car?
Any motorway driving involved Alm?
I was able to do my 120km round trip commute starting at 80% and getting home at 47% in August. The past two days I'm getting home with 34%😨. I wasn't expecting that kind of a hit to range when the weather got colder. I have the 58kwh Style.
what size batter do you have...Did you charge to 80% or the 100% for the trip.
Looks like you started with 390km in the tank ?
So seemingly these minor updates are from week 51 - or from the 20th of December to be more precise.
You can tell if you are this side of that or the other side by the 12 v battery - if its a 51ah battery - you are not getting these updates. Its a 49ah one, you are....
Sorry - you can tell this by looking at the Car Equipment details on myVolkswagen
Oooh. I hope mine gets delayed in production by another week or so, then 😄
bit of motorway and dual carriageway alright, about 80km i would say.
Athlone through Cavan then out to Lisnaskea, Maguiresbridge then out to the A4 and off at Dungannon and up to Toomebridge M22/M2 to Antrim and up to Ballycastle.
Tour with 77kw and charged to 100%, was reading 411 on setting out.
I'll be doing a fair old spin Friday week, trip to work, trip home collect the family, head for Galway, total trip will be around 390 Kms.
Will probably charge somewhere close to Galway on the way down for a bit, will be my first charging experience at a public charger in quite a while.
I'll leave work hopefully with full charge so from full charge will be Blanch to Near Carlow Town then from my house to the place we're staying in Galway will be 218 Kms.
What's the best charger to use closest to Galway, preferably 150 Kw ?
I used the ESB DC 150 charger at the Supermacs service area near Loughrea during the week. Pulled 62 kw in 30 mins. Though it might be more but more than happy with that.
When I had the 2015 24 Kwh Leaf I'd have been lucky to get 18 Kwh in 40 mins lol and if it was cold maybe closer to 50 mins! 😁
I think it was minus 1C when I was charging. Car and battery were nice and warm though. Think it was 37c per kwh.
Like I said in my post - early August
Galway plaza 150kW. I’ve had the ID.4 charging at 125kW there a few times when the battery was at around 17%.
No other 150kW after that unless Carnmore gets a surprise upgrade which would be a surprise.
This is very strange behaviour, charged the car to 80% last night, here on Park West site today with no charging, the car didn't preheat the battery, temp outside was 0 Deg C, see below pics of temp at start and temp when battery heater switched off, took all of about 9 mins to heat from around 5.5 to 12.5 degrees and probably wouldn't have much of an effect on longer range for commuting. Just puzzled as to why it preheated the battery the other morning and not this morning ?
This pic when I got in the car. Notice the times.

Last Pic won't display, this new site is absolute Shyte!!!!!!
Any 58Kw/hr owners that have done a long journey in this cold week, range, heating, speed - how was it?
Not a long trip but yesterday I only did 82km to work and back and it used 35% of the battery. No motorway, no speeding and average of 65km/h in normal traffic for the time of the day.
Pre heated in the morning but not for the evening. I would ideally get someone else with an ID.3 to drive it and see if it is the driver or the car.
Thanks @Mr Q so have my order in and due for Feb I think, 58kw/hr family, will be doing Galway -> Limerick -> Galway. I keep seeing the 77kw/hr people and get worried, but I know 58 does my journey albeit with less overhead, I'll have home and usually a work place charger so im not freaked out just yet. Just hope I made the right choice. Happy to hear more feedbacks on the 58's range in this weather.
Had this this morning after 200 kms each way last evening /night, back at 12:30
topped up full in Killarney 28 kW, left nenagh full 58 so 86
was at about 23/24 kWh/100 km on way back near zero
Had to drive slowly to get home, a bit edgy, was down to 10 kw draw
Went out this morning to bring it for charging: had this
