Who are the girly men ?
The girly-men must be creaming themselves with the Novak situation
I thought it was just me or my hearing is gone but I can't understand Pat Nevin, he speaks too quickly and a Scottish accent is difficult to understand, but Souness is fine so was Hansen.
He's gone full anti covid restrictions on twitter. (he has a point tbf)
East Fife 4 Forfar 5
I think he fell out fairly badly with Ger Gilroy and has had plenty of swipes at him since so I'd say that door is shut. I'd expect he'll come up with his own show.
Wooly is leaving Joe.ie.
What are the odds on him doing a Ronaldo?
Richie's dictation is fine. He's a chameleon of accents, but he's a bit of a smart arse at times
Between Joe Molloy's mid Leinster private school pronunciations and Pat Nevin's Scottish mumbling last night, I'm done with the football show
I'm not sure you need me to point out how silly that is.
I didn't need to reply after my initial comment. I heard at the end of the interview that it was apparantly about Agnes Tirop, I didn't learn that from a boards comment.
I never mentioned anything about the accents by the way. He's a mumbler with low tone monotonous voice.
You came in here last week to bitch about a topic they covered on the show and wondered 'where the sport' is. Now after you were told what the relevance is you completely ignored it and you're now having another pop at the show.
I don't personally want to listen to the same type of broadcasting voice all the time. A bit of variety never hurt anybody and it's a stupid thing to find issue with in my opinion, no less saying the person needs to be sacked.
There's a reason it's called a broadcasting voice...if you want regional accents, go to a regional radio station, not a national one.
Joe speaks in a generic broadcasting voice and could be from anywhere. The rest just speak in the accents of the places they are from. It's nice to hear regional accents on the radio instead of mid-Atlantic radio speak.
Off the ball need to get rid of Ritchie and a couple of others, their diction is horrendous.
I find it hard to understand Ritchie a lot of the time as you'll go from Joe who speaks clearly, to Ritchie who almost mumbles and speaks in this low monotonous voice.
Yes I should have added that.... As a show, it's quite good and I enjoy it. Decent hour or so of football talk.
I actually enjoy it better to off the ball itself
The production on the "Team 33" shows in the early days (when it used to go out on a Tuesday night, I think) was piss poor, college radio type stuff. I've found it to be much better recently tho.
The mouse clicks and paper shuffling etc I personally find to be much worse on Radio 1, no matter what the show, you just cant listen on headphones with all of the background noise. Is a directional mic that hard to find these days??
I've always had a grievance with the sound engineering on Newstalk shows. Listened to a Team 33 podcast once and the sound of a door being opened and closed in to whatever studio it was recorded in happened every 90 seconds or so. And I don't think it is as bad now as it used to be, but when Skype calls first became widely used, they hardly got through an interview across the entire station without having to apologize for the poor line quality.
Background mouse clicks make this show completely unlistenable to when it happens. Shockingly loud there. How someone in production isn’t on to this beggars belief. Amateur hour. It’s not just off the ball either although they would be the biggest offenders, Pat Kenny asks some question and no sooner had the interviewee started to answer and all you can hear is a rattle of the €8 the cheap curry’s bargain bin mouse the tight-fisted hungry f*cker has no doubted purchased.
Yes, can’t listen/download any of them for 24ish hours. I get an error message. Some never get fixed at all. Some don’t get uploaded at all.
Yes Iam having a lot of issues with podcasts as well...buffering etc and then going back to the start..also the number of adds is on them is gone crazy recently..
I have this issue, on Apple podcasts. I downloaded the goloud thing they are pushing and that was the same issue.
I mentioned there last week I was having an issue with one of the rugby podcasts. Thought it was just that particular one but I have had issues with 3 or 4 since. It will play like 2-3 minutes then just stop. This is on Spotify.
Anyone else have issues with the OTB podcasts recently? Some stuck buffering, others saying they're 3/4 hours long. On pocketcasts
Great piece, and as a athletics fan, one I thought they covered really well. This is the kind of stuff I feel has been missing a bit of late from OTB so great to see it being done well.
It was about Agnes Tirop, an Kenyan athlete and world bronze medallist in the 10,000m who was murdered and the organisation that's been set up in her name.
Very much a sporting story. Like I've said before, do you just want them to go through the scores or something? Very insightful piece for people who are open minded.
What's this rubbish on now? Where's the sport??
After OTB spending a lot of time and effort outlining how the GAA football championship is not fit for purpose due to the uncompetitive nature of most of the matches, Richie, Joe and Dave are now sneering at people who express an opinion that international football (a competiton where England win their last two games 10 nil and 5 nil) is not fit for purpose due to the uncompetitive nature of most of the matches.
You couldn't make it up.
The Sunday newspaper review today was very informative - the rugby All Blacks win, Irish women's rugby & Irish racing story by Kimmage were amongst the main stories. I will admit that I thought Kimmage became a parody of himself a few years ago when he was continuously on radio - but I would like to hear him being interviewed about this racing horse story (in todays Indo) But he decided to take a sabbatical from Commincorp in solidarity with the Irish Times journalists when they were barred from their stations.
