There was Fat Princess but servers are probably loooooong shut down.
Splatoon has some good modes that play like that as well and doesn't really play like a tradition third person shooter but it's a stretch to say that.
Random question, but can anyone suggest some games with a Capture the Flag mode that are not FPS / third person shooter? There must be some good top down examples, beat em ups etc?
Yep, got GamePass. Actually reminds me, I enjoyed Control a lot.
I think I go into analysis paralysis with GamePass, in the same way I do with Netflix.
I forgot to mention MS Flight Sim, which is incredible if you like flight Sims ... And I thought I would, but I have not had the time to invest in it.
If you like first person shooters, racing, sports games .... then Xbox has a lot to offer, especially on GamePass and for next gen. Forza 5 recently and Halo of course, just around the corner.
Yeah, GamePass is allowing me to try games I never played before, and a good chunk have some form of upgrade.
The main reason I bought a PS5 is to play the more visually impressive PS4 games in my backlog like Days Gone, God of War etc. I can't think of many current-gen games that I'm excited for.
Games I played recently enough that left a mark although not current gen games are Supraland(gamepass), Prey(gamepass also), Dishonored(gamepass also but I'm only just playing it and find it good and then there are two more games in the franchise also on gamepass). Yes I picked game on Gamepass but if you have a Xbox and don't have that what the hell is the point.
This generation has been off to a slow start alright. I'm mostly playing last gen games on my Series X.
My Switch is simply gathering dust until I travel. I'm not into Nintendo games at all.
I've been itching for Hellblade 2 ever since that trailer. I'd buy a Series X just for that.
Not next gen but ... I'm hoping BOTW2 has a good few tricks up it's sleeve. And I'm hoping for a Mario Odyssey 2. Also, I'd like a fresh AAA 2D Donkey Kong or Mario platformer.
To be honest, me just stepping out of the Nintendo pale recently, the Xbox Series X ain't blowing my socks off. Beautiful hardware. 4k 60 FPS is beautiful and fast loading a game changer, but only RDR2, Skyrim and Ori Will of the Wisps remain memorable for me. All last gen.
I'm really interested in what the Ori team does next. They get it. Then there is Starfield, which I hope, is brilliant.
Skyrim black screen of death has been fixed.
Hurrah
GTA IV was my least favourite one of the 3D era.
I went back to that game a year or year and half ago after hearing you talk about it and was disappointed it has aged badly it is a game that could do with a remaster.
Not right now Roman as I'm getting pissed with Packie instead.
You love that game, cousin lets go bowling....
Yes indeed.
Is this GTA IV?
The Bellic cousins have been through a lot together in GTA IV.
Yes, it's good. Even Human Revolutions it's worth a play, the others are way too dated unless you're really a fan. It's a shame that they shelved the series.
It's incredible. Totally nails that 'just one more game' feeling. Perfect timing for it too with CoD and Battlefield stinking the place out so much this year.
I agree Halo Infinite is amazing. They really nailed it, feels like classic Halo 3/Reach gameplay.
Is Deus Ex: Mankind Divided any good? I've never played any of the series before.
More Ubisoft tower games for a while.
I really don't see anything in the triple A space changing things up at all. Games are too much of a risk so they will play it safe with the usual cover shooters and ubi-open worlds.
Something will come along and shake the industry up a bit, something like Dark Souls, PUBG or Minecraft, but it will come from the indie space and then be taken up by the triple A industry.
Yeah I think it comes to €628.50. I read that game consoles aren't subject to customs fees, but it's the import VAT that's the killer. I'm in the queue but I think I'll just keep trying to get one locally. So January :)..
Yes but you'll be ridden rock solid with tax and import charges. Would probably add another 150 or so to the price.
I was browsing the PS5 thread and folks were celebrating the 1 year anniversary of the PS5. It reminded me of how frustrated/impatient I'm getting as I just want next gen to take off but, of course, I understand that will mean leaving those who still have the old gen consoles in the dust. It's been said in the past that we've seen diminishing returns in recent generations but I disagree to an extent and think even the last gen consoles despite, being dubbed, "the remastered generation" earlier in its cycle, made great strides in the medium . I think this gen has the potential to produce some truly special stuff. There comes a point in gaming where you get jaded and think you've seen it all but, I dunno, I just get the feeling we're in for some great surprises in the next few years. Anyone have any predictions of trends or leaps in tech that will be made with this gen?
Yeah, not a fan of him at all.
Can't stand worthless buy aka Mac the hack. He's that classic old bigoted guy in a beer garden who somehow gets to review games for a living. It's a great gimmick except it's not a gimmick because he's legit... I think I first came across him with his now deleted Death of the Outsider review where he just ranted about having to play as a black woman, and the last video I watched is his also now deleted video doing the same thing. Except that time he was called out by the publisher for it and then subsequently tried to throw his own fans under the bus; I was cackling. Even funnier is that the publisher had been working with him for years and had no idea what he was like: https://www.gamerevolution.com/news/662555-second-extinction-review-worth-a-buy-sexist-racist
One of the dumbest things he ever said was during his review for Control about how every game should be first person because all third person does is get in the way of the screen lol. How this guy continues to get review codes is beyond me.
Is he still deleting comments when anyone dares to challenge his opinion? For a man who loves to hand out criticism, he's extremely delicate when questioned on anything.
I have a question folks: I have a UK PSN account, and Sony sent me an email for it saying I'm eligible to order a PS5 from them directly (22nd, 8am-10am, though stock will likely be gone very quickly).
Unfortunately the T&Cs say they'll only deliver to the UK mainland.
I haven't used AddressPal for years, but could I use that to get it shipped to Ireland?
I completed The Forgotten City earlier today but got the wrong ending and I am glad I went back as I would have missed a lot. Ending 4 of 4 is the correct one which I got. Wow that is some place where you meet the god. I still have ending 1 of 4 and 3 of 4 to do. I'm still racking my brain as in how would I do 3 of 4 as I cannot see the pattern.
