I didn’t see it but I watch billy the other night and I worried for him. It was embarrassing. He is a fair age now and can’t really read and write so I am not sure why the pup are putting him forward
Let me be clear. I think ni will be better off economically even in nip current form.
bertie was correct on one point ie that this is about identity etc.
the other issue is movement of goods, pets, etc within the Uk ie gb to ni. And the displacement of our British goods. Those are the big issues for
Well finally it looks like the other tribe is starting to make some noise about the NIP. But does anybody think they'll burn buses?

Well they are on first name terms with Boris even at the protest so I’d hardly think so. It’s really very affectionate
That statement is ok. But I trust no one in this. We need to see the action

So the ECJ issue quietly dropped already?
i didn’t read that. Maybe you would direct me to where that was said.
Interesting in that it would suggest that the shinners are getting twitchy as the must think movement is happening
It wasn't mentioned at all.....precisely my point.
Were you expecting Frost to announce, 'also I've totally gone back on my ECJ red line and won't be pursuing it any further given the slapdown the suggestion received'?
What exactly do you think, 'quietly dropped' means?
I'll give you a clue, when something goes from a headline issue to not being mentioned at all, it has been quietly dropped.
The constant see saw.
downcow thinks he is fooling people because he has set himself up to win whatever way it goes. I suspect that comes before worrying about what no Protocol would mean for the people of Ireland, which he is as well as all of the rest of us.
There's plenty more like him in attitude. Not a single mention of what landed him and his where they are. The world is out to get him and his - victimhood writ large.
Trouble with that whinging all the time is that people stop listening.
Francie you look like you are looked in to little personal competitions. What I want is what is best for OWC while maintaining our privilege of being part of this wonderful union that it seems Gerry, matin, Alex, nicola, etc try as they will, cannot cause our peoples to shift.
You are saying we need to drop the old ‘feed me I am a croc’ line
'cept that your brethren regard the Protocol remaining as de facto separation of the north from the Union. And many many people see the future as being the growth of an all Ireland economy (has already taken massive steps in the short time the Protocol has been here) and the people of the north looking south rather than east, as their future.
No, I am saying they need to lay the blame where it lies, with political Unionism, The British government and the Brexiteers.
You missed my point. You seem more wrapped up in proving you are right and have won and unfortunately that restricts your ability to open up and take a risk in discussion.
honestly, sometimes I love it when I am wrong and I learn from it. But if you are never wrong then you’ll probably not learn much.
my da again - he said, “the man that never made a mistake, never made anything”.
That’s just about everyone except you and your mates.
francie and his mates 😇
No problem admitting when I am wrong downcow.
It was clear from the get go what was going to happen here, you cannot say you weren't wrong and neither can political Unionism.
Pivoting from cheerleading the resistance to the Protocol one day to pretending you think it is a great thing the next is what you d downcow.
You do that because (as you have also tried to do here several times) you want to gloat. Transparent as an open window.
Me and 'my mates' did not cause Brexit downcow.
Doubtful. It is more like them being in constant election mode and feeling the need to be vocal against Brexit and its negative impacts and threats, i.e. they need to be seen to be doing something.
Last I checked, they didn't even get a vote for it in your neck of the woods, Francie.
Not surprised Downcow thinks it is your fault though. Another laid bare demonstration of the problem with Downcow's particular brand of Unionism.
That group has been active since Brexit begun.
Shure it's everyone's else's fault.
Unionist victimhood, around since King Billy got a bad Big Mac at Boyne filling station.
I thought we all agreed a few posts back that brexit is great for ni and that come etc are falling over themselves to get in. Or did I misunderstand?
No, again.
NI being kept aligned with the south and in the EU is what is great for it.
Brexit has created a shroud of economic uncertainty over all of GB & NI. Thankfully this has been mitigated by the NIP.
So you think that’s not what’s happening now?
Because of Brexit, GB has been able to deviate from EU standards in a number of areas including allowing raw sewage be dumped into watercourses
I (edit: think) I kind of get where downcow is coming from with apparently inconsistent positions on the NI protocol over course of the thread, even if I don't agree.
He is hoping Boris Johnson/Frost being strong and banging the table, or maybe the court case that began the thread etc. can bully out a few more golden eggs from the goose that is paying NIs way out from under Brexit (get rid of more customs checks, maybe even excise EU law from NI entirely as Frost was seeking, while somehow, somehow NI still keeps current access to customs free trade in goods with Ireland and rest of the EU).
Problem is Frost and co. may not be doing this as a negotiating tactic for good of NI Unionists like downcow hopes + really want to wring the gooses neck and stick it in the oven. End of NIs golden goose, the UK's Brexit Turkey comes home to roost and it craps all over everything instead.
Given that the PM nor Frost have cared about NI to date, what would make unionists think they were starting to care now?
