Could you imagine the meltdown in the media here lol! Still wouldn’t be eligible tho, his last cap was this year so the required timeframe in exile wouldn’t be exceeded
Stander to come back for the Boks for WC2023?
What teams have Samoa, Tonga and Fiji in their groups for RWC 2023?
Massive news for the PI teams. There are a lot of former ABs and Wallabies (and some 7s players) in Europe and Japan who would be a big boost to Island teams. Think 5 years would have been better but I do like it.
brilliant news
Pretty significant announcement by World Rugby today.
World Rugby has approved the eligibility change rule to allow players to switch nationality. Essentially any international player can transfer from one union to another subject to demonstrating a close and credible link to that union via birth right (born or have a parent or grandparent born in that county).
The move is only possible also if that player is stood down from international rugby for 3 years (3 years since last cap) and also is subject to approval from World Rugby Regulations Committee.
Huge news for many of the Pacific Island countries like Tonga, Samoa and Fiji who have had a lot of diaspora go on to play for Australia and New Zealand.
A one year match day ban?
Thats not my recollection of Dupont's 6Ns performances, but then I struggle to remember last month these days never mind 6 months ago.
Has anyone ever gained anything by bitching about refs?
Just watching a documentary on tg4 about the 30 year history of the AIL. More tokenism featuring the women's game.
It's actually quite remarkably childish. Blinkered for sure, but just such an embarrassingly immature reaction to such a clear cut case of wrong doing.
This level of bitterness and denial is incredible. It also completely glosses over how extraordinarily out of line Erasmus's conduct really was. Rennies conduct was nothing near the scale of the formers.
This man is supposedly one of the better rugby journalists from South Africa.
If Leo Cullen had done what Erasmus did after a loss and Leinster rugby backed him up, I'd cancel my season ticket in a heartbeat.
Oh the wife tells me that daily
I like that you don't deny you're a **** though 😜 I appreciate the self awareness.
🤣🤣🤣
So much anger.
Well angry fella I’m neither a paedo or catholic.
Shut up pedo Catholic ****
Yeah and I've no doubt plenty of Springbok supporters are very unhappy with the situation too.
Seems to be no shortage of idiots on social media making excuses however, some serious impotent rage on display.
I think someone needs a hug
Yet u fuckers protect a rapist.
Ah we would. There’s no way we’d accept that behaviour en masse. We’re far from perfect, but we’re not that bad!
As long as Erasmus keeps SA at the top of the game, the fans will back him regardless.
I don't think Irish fans would be much different tbh.
They honestly don't care.
All they care about is winning and that's what they did therefore everything that brought them to that point is A-OK.
I'm friends with a few SA rugby lads/ladies and they're the moderates and I respect the **** out of them when it comes to rugby. They don't want to talk about the whole thing at all. That doesn't make me think that the general SA rugby fan really despises what Erasmus did. I suspect a sizeable proportion think it's somewhat justified.
It's turning into an embarrassment for SA rugby at this stage, not just Erasmus.
I'd double his sanctions to be honest. Dreadful for the game to have him carryinging on like a spoilt teenager.
Shows how clueless u are and not knowing the facts when u say he released it.do ur homework and don’t rely on Facebook pages for info as u prob do.
It's definitely a lack of consistency within each game itself that bothers people, in particular I find when TMO interventions come at the cost of one team more than another, especially if there are very obvious infringements - it is quite frustrating.
But this is getting away from the point, if there is to be an improvement in reffing - it's not going to by catalysed by Rassie having a childish moan on camera, lying about his interactions with the officials and then leaking the entire thing to influence the next game his team is playing in. The sanction to my mind was measured but I'd have gone further, especially after that incredibly immature and poorly advised tweet yesterday.
And a bit of understanding from supporters too! At the end of the day, getting pissed off about some of those things is only having an impact on your own enjoyment of the game and, probably, the enjoyment of those around you. So chilling out about this stuff makes the whole experience more enjoyable across the board.
