Gigs announced this morning .
September 9th & 10th .
How do you measure your head for a Stetson? Asking for a friend.
Now to wait for the prices to be revealed the same time as tickets going onsale. At least I'll be the office on my own and won't realise I'm on Ticketmaster ha
Time to start the Linedancing lessons .....
Aiken have their homework done this time too, they can have 5 gigs if they wish and I doubt any legal challenge will make a difference.
Didn't realise tickets onsale at 8am, I thought it would be 9, let's hope my phone doesn't let me down.
Friend shared tweet with me, apparently if you add this to any irish Ticketmaster event you get presale access.

Yesss, happy the 2014 debacle can be put behind us now (wait til covid or health reasons cancel them ha)
Like last time announce 2 then a 3rd and next the 4th and 5th shows
How many physical ticketmater stores are left in the country ? No doubt attention seekers will be out in force like last time. No way the website will keep up and not crash next week
Do you need a presale code tho?
I'd say it'll be fine, (the website). It's just going to be two dates on sale at the start. The attention seekers can camp out in the cold if they want, wouldn't fancy doing that in November.
Last time they were camped out in January
Anyways leave them off, the pain and suffering of ticketmaster on laptop/app is enough
I have to say the gaa played a blinder getting the gigs through... this set a precedent going forward.... will it be 3.. 5 or 7 each year....
It wouldn't happen every year, as much as the GAA would love it. There simply aren't enough huge acts in the world to justify it.
Wouldn't it be ironic if he actually didn't sell enough tickets and he may only end up only doing 2/3 shows, with the tickets been relatively cheap (but still expensive) its hard not seeing him doing the 5 shows
Expect show Night 3 (Sun Sep 11th) to be announced instantly after Nights 1 and 2 'sell out' in record time etc. Think Nights 4 and 5 slated for Fri 16th/Sat 17th Sep and they might get announced at a later date or even next week who knows at this stage
I wasn't paying attention and for some reason i assumed that tickets for first 3 concerts already sold but seems not. If Croke Park can hold 80,000 that be 400,000... its a lot of selling for one act... I think tickets likely be like €80...
It look silly to go to all the trouble if they cannot sell....
Why would it be ironic? For someone who claims to want these shows, you seem to want them to fail?
Would personally be surprised if they don't all sell out. Although i seem to remember the saga last time round being a bit like Tulip-mania. Could see a lot of resells.
Only saying as a passing comment and no way do i want these events to fail
I feel ill jast thinkin abot dis.what shud I take?
This might help ya
The big difference between 2014 and now, is that the Sale of Tickets Act 2021 is in effect and Croke Park is a designated venue under the Act, so that no ticket may be exchanged above face value and those involved in any part of doing that, are committing an offence.
It'll be sure interesting to see how many individual fans buy one ticket for themselves only, rather than the giant gouge-fest the 400,000 in 2014 was destined to be. By the way, all those touts that couldn't get refunds that year was still one of the most joyous parts of the whole saga.
It's his only European gigs sure to sell out
2 Pina coladas (one for each hand)
€65 standing, €80 seats plus fees.
To be fair, he's not really popular in other countries, his last world tour in 98 only did Dublin/Belfast in Europe too. Doubt there'll be too many travelling
I cannot figure out why the big fuss was about the 5 concerts... i had assumed the 3 already sold and more demand... I am now thinking that it was an opportunity to get the original planning clause changed...
Well yeah, they don't want a repeat of the 2014 debacle , so the permission is there for five gigs if they want.
Maybe over Covid now but last time many other Europeans had tickets bought
There is no clause as such, it was a Gentlemen's agreement between the Stadium Operator and the local community.
That good faith is a bust now, Croke Park needn't be surprised at any challenges that come their way.
Sure it cannot be challenged the Council granted the license for the gigs... i expect precedent set....
Plus they put a few dates on sale initially in 2014 and people got caught up in the hype and bought them.
They drip fed the dates and the idea was novel.
Now people know that there are 5 gigs planned so the hype and demand wont be there.
You wont be able to give away tickets for these gigs next summer, they will be going for 20 euro.
