ECars CAN charge for charging. They choose not to as yet. The legislation issues have been resolved but eCars have been playing politics waiting for matched funding I believe.
This isn't for production, but Hyundai made an EV version of their first luxury end car, the Grandeur from 1986, in all its 80s boxyness. Amazing.

The green car company raised $12 billion, reports Nasdaq
It's starting to get a bit crowded...
…..meanwhile Toyota still backing the ICE/Hydrogen horse…..
So I've seen a lot of ICE cars recently with plastic strips along the front of the bonnet above the lights
I think they're called front end bras (very humourous, yes 🙄) and are supposed to protect the paint from scratches
The ones I saw looked more like moulded plastic, like some kind of mini spoiler or wind deflector
Are they supposed to be for fuel efficiency or something?
(Sorry for going way off topic, but I'd be worried about a lecture about aerodynamics and efficiency in the main motors forum 😅)
Never heard of the A-ha connection before. I'm sure a lot of gubberments are closely watching what happens in Norway.
Wonder what happened the car? A minor ding totalled it

test drove a 202 Audi Etron 50 today , 66k straight deal though suspect he,d drop another bit , told me the 50,s are being discontinued , all new Etrons will be 55
anyway , the Etron for me is head and shoulders above all other other EV,s ive sat in since late summer , beit Enyaq , Ioniq5 ,EV6 or VWI4 , Ioniq 5 was second best for me as its higher up than the EV6 and im tall with a fairly duff back , can see why the EV6 is so appealing though
i havent test drove the mustang Mach E but ive sat in it , its far too expensive for what it is in my opinion
90K for a brand new Etron 55 so if I do buy an EV before end of this year , it will be a twelve month old UK import Etron , lack of availability means they wont allow themselves to be squeezed much at the negotiating table.
Audis are shocking for efficiency though aren't they?
..and good luck with those import taxes
@Mad_maxx have you sat in a Tesla yet, or better still, test drove one?
I don’t know what the range or performance is in an e-tron 50/55, but I’m guessing a Model Y would absolutely blow it out of the water, and then, just for fun, blow it out of the water again….
Tesla is out for me as too low to the ground
Go out to Sandyford and sit in the Y, it’s supposedly fairly high up…
I must do that, reading up on it and it is a lot higher than model 3
Didn't mean I was going to bring over myself
Yes. But if you get say 280wh/km on the motorway you have nearly 300km real world range and have a charging curve that's above 140kW until 80+ SOC and above 50kW the whole way to 100%, it doesnt really matter.
Yup, plenty of ex demo 55 here already. That and the ipace are one of the few EVs that it's better to buy 6-12 months old than new.
My other half hates the look of the hyundai ioniq 5 , she likes the Audi best and Tesla model Y next best ( we saw a few Y in London a few weeks back parked in Kensington but haven't test drove in Sandyford yet )
I personally think the Hyundai is fantastic value and like the look though interior nicer in the Kia
All you need then is loads of 150kW chargers..................
or else hope to fooooook that Elon opens up his network in Ireland!!
i wouldnt hesitate to recommend the etron, at the moment only the Model x can touch it for space (if you need it) and nothing else i have been in for finish,
The guy was right about the 50 (although i think you can still get the sportback in a 50)
I have a Kia ev6 booked for January..I had misgivings about the charging stations and Abit of anxiety with km range but feel Abit better now .I'm living in the midlands so half way between everywhere and with 530 km range I think will be ok while they upgrade the chargers .fingers crossed
Audi dealer told me its 3K for a towbar as its a big job ,claimed getting a spurious one fitted would jeprodise warranty as you risk hitting the battery so not like getting a thousand euro towbar fitted on a ICE car ?
I need a towbar as need to bring wheelie bins out for collection every fortnight, live at end of a cul de sac 20 minutes from Galway city
A 20 minute drive to leave your bins out!!😂😂
Good choice, very cool looking car , I'd buy one only too low to the ground and I've a second rate back
Test drove one few weeks back
No , one Km on the button
Is the model Y lower to the ground than the Etron?
When we were kids my mates da would put us in the boot of the car and we'd hang out the back holding the bins as he drove down the drive.
It was only 3/400m thought😂
Channel 4 Dispatches tonight @8:30pm
Saw the last 10 minutes of Top Gear last night, not by choice. They had a Mercedes EQC, Audi E-tron Sportback and a Polestar 2 towing caravans. Total joke of a piece, they seemed determined to show how all 3 cars failed miserably with the challenge.
Good to know if you want to tow a caravan?
