Not great…..car won’t go about 3k revs now!!!
I think the problem is you have it upside down!
*seriously though, that's a right pain :(
Yeah, such a pain. It’ll be going back to the dealers right away.
Maybe shouldn't have launched it after all !!
I'd try locking the car, leaving it for 15 minutes and getting back in. See does the error come up again after a fresh ignition start. If it does, try resetting the infotainment (press and hold the power button for ~15 seconds). Failing all that... dealers trip.
Thanks Joe. It actually happened me twice today. The first time it was just an error message. The second time (after a restart) was error plus “limp” mode.
I haven’t even launched it yet 😑
Cupra got picked up earlier. Utterly fantastic 18 months with it. Will probably pop up online in the next few weeks for sale if anyone is looking for something like it. Properly sorted car, zero issues, tiny mileage and a huge history file.
18 months gone already?! Flew by. Didn't you get a new exhaust system on it recently? Or maybe that was ages ago.
Replacing it with any interesting? 🙂
Going all pipe and slippers with the replacement but it should sound good at least.
Exhaust is on a while, clutch upgrade lately alright. I’ll miss it but the market is good.
Did you sell to a garage or private?
Cupra Ateca?
In the end to a garage. Done deal was a pain in the backside with messers.
Already one POS Ateca outside the door, couldn’t handle a second.
You have a clubsport ordered I thought?
Why the mystery?:)
I was man mathing it for a while but I’ve gone off it. Aside from costs I can get a little OCD about the cars and with a pristine new car it takes a lot of the enjoyment away.
I have a deposit on something and am collecting it on Saturday but it’s a sight unseen buy so I’ll hold off until it works out. It’s a little unusual and actually older than the Leon.

On the topic of potholes, you can report them on fixmystreet.ie. I hit a massive one the same day others were posting here. Reported it last week and it's already been filled. This was with SDCC so your mileage may vary but definitely worth reporting.
Christ.... https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/volkswagen/golf/fpa/202111169624166?journey=Search
This was my original order: https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/volkswagen/golf/fpa/202111159607997?journey=Search but about 6k more expensive; on account of VRT it seems
that the car you had ordered?
I edited my post after your comment.... This was the one I ordered, about 6k more than what I was quoted https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/volkswagen/golf/fpa/202111159607997?journey=Search
VRT I guess
VW also hiked the prices from October... about 1k or thereabouts onto the R.
Glad I took the car they had in stock this side of the new year! Dodged a very expensive bullet.
Absolutely!
Did you get your "limp mode" issue checked out?
I did, and it’s sorted. The Dealer originally thought it was the high pressure fuel pump, but thankfully that wasn’t the issue. Apparently, it was some wired connection from the the fuel pump itself that was loose - they fixed it and I had the car back within 48 hours. It’s been driving perfectly since.
The MK8;Golf is uglier than a Kia. What a downgrade from the MK7. The new golfs exterior is hideous and with a cheap and nasty interior.
Great post🙄
Have you been in one of the high spec models? R or Clubsport?
I think the non performance models really rely on a nice set of wheels, some do look a bit roller-skatey with smaller wheels.
The styling of the 8 is quite chunky and agressive in general so when you see one with 205/55/16's it looks a bit weedy.
Not the club sport but I was in the R and the GTI, hideous and very common.
The Golf is a fairly subtle looking car but there's plenty of design details if you actually look. If you don't like the styling fair enough but there's definitely work put into the Mk8 to make it different to the predecessor while still keeping it distinguishable as a Golf.
Anyone expecting the Golf to have a radical change each generation like the Civic or something is sorely mistaken. Hardly a surprise given it's a Golf.
What did you decide to buy instead?
