Yeah, that's it. I've been in the Nigerian Ambassador's house a few times and there's a fair entourage living there. It's on one of Dublins most expensive residential streets. But that's embassies and their residences for you.
Irish embassy in Vienna used to be on the 17th floor of the Hilton Hotel. Amazing spot. Irish embassy in Paris used to be behind the Arc de Triomphe. (Both of these back in the 90's). No idea where the ambassadors lived, but doubt it's the equivalent of Marino.
Imagine €395k would barely get you a 3 bed semi-d in a nice area in Dublin and yet in Roscommon it'll get you this beaut:
Someone has been lovingly restoring this but has probably run out of money or interest or maybe both. You could be working on this for the rest of your life! It's still a very interesting place, would love a ramble around this house. €485k
Does anybody ever see those articles when a newspaper writes an article and shares it on social media about these bargain Irish homes and all these people start tagging one another.
They fail to mention the landfill nearby, the halting site, subsidence, flooding or the murders.
You'd be pouring money into that till it killed you but God help me I'd love to have the money to buy it and do it up.
Me too, it could be fabulous given some time and plenty of money!
Article about that place here.

It’s shabby chic you know. 🤔
I hate religious people and that bullshít. We walked around by ourselves and met up in the former chapel and said a prayer for guidance. Dumb asses.
That was my first thought, that it would be a money pit. Its very romantic and some lovely restoration has been done, but I reckon you would need your woolly jumper and thick socks on in the winter.
Edit: that article is interesting, apparently it is finished as the patchy walls are deliberate. Some lovely floors - I like the one in the formal dining room. The BER is G!
It's like that young couple in England(well they were young when they bought it). They were looking at a place to buy and seen houses worth what ever price then they seen an old mansion for the same price as a standard house and they decided to buy the mansion despite it needing massive renovations. They spent a fortune on it. It was on Tv back in the day. I wonder do they still own it now or did they get sense and sell it.
was that the Sarah Beeny one?
I forget. It was on years ago. More than 10 years anyway.
It must've been she that sold it to them
Like this ?
love it.
Wouldn't change a thing about it.
Irish Times getting plenty of mileage out of that one house 🙄
Sounds like that money pit has contributed to the break up of at least one relationship from that article.

Photographer came before the children were finished clearing out granny's house?
Photographer told to take 3 photos of everything to be sure to be sure, but nobody told them not to put them all on the website?
If you wanted to live in that area it seems like a good enough purchase, not too difficult to adapt to a house. Its on the road though and title/access might have some issues.
No proper kitchen in it also?
No private jetty, just straight onto the lake itself, and the one I was in was a good bit more modern and open plan. Still though, I wouldn't say no to that one either!
I wonder is that sold. It doesn't show up when I click the link.
There's some beautiful work done in it.
A real money pit, you would need the lotto or the euro millions! 😁
Looks like he just threw his camera at the internet. Surprised there's no communion pics or like in there.
More space in entrance way than kitchen
This house in Derry has been on the market for quite a while, price has recently dropped from £500k to £400k. Unlike a lot of the large houses posted on here, it's not out in the middle of nowhere but actually only 5 mins from the city centre and in a very sought after part of the city too. 2 utility rooms is unusual but I'd probably knock through one wall and have a bigger kitchen.
That is some house! Fab
It has some lovely features, not sure about some of the decor but a very impressive house. Looks as though it has been used as a b&b, which would be a good use for it.
