Hi
Has anyone been placed with AGS and waiting long for there vetting to come back
The wait for vetting all depends on many places you’ve lived and if you have lived outside Ireland it takes longer. Which district have you been offered in AGS?
I am in Dublin i sent in my vetting over 4 months ago now. I never lived outside Ireland or had many homes.
if all goes well which it should i will be offered a particular station or office then.
hello everyone! Need some understanding here please .. I did pass the interview but not very good OOM in Dublin . Do you think I will be considered . They said they are in batch 31 and I am in batch 32 but my OOM is way down in the batch .
Just these thought creeping in .. even though I am trying to stay calm 😂
4 months seems like a very long time. Can you contact the vetting ppl to double check if they got it. My vetting came back within 2 weeks, but I have been vetted twice before
Being called for interview is a very good sign and seeing as they aren’t closing the panel anytime soon, I’d say you’re in with a very good shot; the Dublin panel is moving very swiftly. Keep the bright side out 😊
@Moomooland thanks for your encouraging words :) fingers crossed 🤞
Yes i have been n to them and they haven't
heard anything from AGS so frustrating now. Have you been placed with ags ? if so do you like it
I’ll dm you there @Koolcat
My vetting for AGS took 22 weeks, Feb 19 to Aug 19.
The vetting for AGS or Defence etc takes much longer than regular vetting as it’s extended vetting and can unfortunately be 3-4 months.
Oh sweet divine. Mine didn’t take that long 😱😱
Flextime has been suspended since the start of Covid except for the few people still in the office.
Every once in a while you will hear people talking about the NSSO being a bad place to work and I don’t know where these stories come from. In my experience it has been great. Every person I have talked to has been friendly and helpful. A lot of people do leave but that is down to the location. Unless you live on the south side it is a pain to get to Clonskeagh.
Any idea how many numbers are in each batch?
Im batch 32 oom 58 in Dublin
Omg so long do you like working there now its taking so long I feel anxious about it all now
Thanks again.
Yeah, i had actually read somewhere about the high staff turnover but having an office of 300 plus in Clonskeagh would defo explain that.
I'm under consideration for one of the locations outside of Dublin so hoping i hear soon abut a start date. Moving from the private sector due to crazy hours (doing 45-50 hour weeks usually and no benefit of o/time or time in lieu).
Will be down about 200 a week but thankfully i can manage without it.
My vetting took 6 months - never lived outside Ireland or in any other home.
Thats very long was that in dublin ?
Do you like it now your working in ags
Thank you I feel a bit better now that it is common to be so long
hello Everyone,
how long does it usually take to get the result of an interview?
TIA
it varies .. but within 2 weeks
Saulgudman, I did it nearly 2 years ago. I left private sector (I was slightly different in that I loved my job) but moving meant being down a great deal of money each week. I was so conflicted. It was the best decision I made. The work/life balance even without flexi has made so much difference to my life. I’ve worked all through the pandemic but it’s been so different to the private sector. That knot in your tummy you get in the private sector every time you log in because you know how busy you will be, how stressed your week will be, how organised you have to be to finish tasks. That’s just not there. If your struggling or have too much work people will actually help you. I’ve yet to meet anyone that has not helped me. I’m so glad I made the move and I hope you will be too. (Ps this is not to say you won’t be busy, it’s just not pressurised busy).
I placed in the mid teens OOM for my first choice location in the Midlands for the EO competition after doing the etray so I'd expect to be interviewed at some stage... I'd have to take a 30% pay cut from my private sector job were I to accept an EO grade job offer so its interesting to read people's experiences in switching from the private sector to the public sector and the improvement in the work/life balance
In my experience it’s worth the loss of money. When you switch off that’s it. I’ve had no problems getting holidays for when I needed them, anything I’ve asked for help wise has been provided. At the start the money adjustment was a bit daunting but you know what, you get used to it again and to be honest I wouldn’t change it. I know I’ll have a job regardless of what happens and I’ll be thankful for it and work hard. And there’s loads of opportunities to move around.
hopefully you’ll have the same experience.
Hi Everyone, I just got an email from public jobs saying I placed 1 in batch 12 for Laois, can anyone advise if / when I might get a job offer and what department it is most likely to be?
Hello. Has anyone any idea what batch and oom Cork is on? Thanks a mill
I only got a OOM, no batch number. I’m on the Cork panel
The Department of Agriculture is in Laois so possibly there. You should get a job offer within the next 2/3 weeks, then reference checks, Garda vetting etc.
Hi, I got oom 128 on batch 32 for Dublin. I am worried that they will move on to the next batch before I get an offer due to my oom being quite high. Has anyone with a number similar to 128 got an offer? Thanks
