Hey, does anyone know if your manager can see if you are on a mobility waiting list? My wait time would likely be over a year for my desired location, but I wouldn't like to say it to them just yet.
No they cant
Great, thanks for that!
Hey I am high up the list for departments in tralee and Killarney hoping to move to Kerry, I have two years done as AO in my current role just wondering does anyone know will it take a long time, many thanks
I'm in the top 5 for several departments the last 12 months. No movement
From the Mobility Map, it looks like there aren't any AO positions in Killarney at the moment; and Tralee only has two. I imagine that could take a very long time.
Remember that for the position to turn into a mobility offer for someone, first a position must come vacant, second it must be retained in the location (rarely an issue, but something to take into account when there's only a small few positions), third they must choose to fill the vacancy through mobility according to sequencing rules. Of course they can also add new AO positions, but it's hard to bank on that.
Limerick or Cork may be more realistic, if you're willing to do a commute.
Are AOs interchangeable with HEOs for mobility, or is it strictly grade specific? I have heard of one AO being moved into a HEO spot, just surprised the unions didn’t kick up.
It's grade-specific.
Just wondering if anyone knows. I understand if you turn down an offer in a zone you're removed from the mobility list for that zone for other offices. However I presume you can still apply for secondment positions within that zone?
Thanks for the replies really I should have researched it more before applying only hope now is some departments might create AO positions in the future
Out of curiosity, are you a HEO or AO? I'm a HEO since January 2020 so will be eligible in January 2022. I applied as soon as mobility for HEOs opened up, but my application will remain inactive until January.
Really hope i'm not waiting long...Hate my current position and really want out!
Neither. I'm waiting for a move 2 1/2 years so far.
Cr@p....I had applied as an EO and it came around quickly, but I then got promoted so obviously turned it down. I'm based in Dublin though so probably have more options/shorter waiting times than some others elsewhere.
Gone up significantly since last post. Up 40 spots since joined mobility 8 months ago. Does anyone kno can your current department refuse your move?
They can delay it a few weeks but can't refuse it.
You have to be 2 years in your department to be considered for a move
1 more year to go so. Would make a big difference time wise with less than half the commute and the way diesel prices are going. At current rate should be in top 10 this time nxt year.
At the end of August a colleague was offered and accepted a transfer on mobility. They got a release date of Oct 1st but still haven't moved. They are finding it very hard to get anywhere with Hr or the Union. Any advice? This is AGS.
It's probably to do with security clearance which is more robust with AGS.
They are already working in AGS with two and a half years. The mobility move is still within AGS, same division just different physical location.
Ok. I'm not sure of the delay so.
Sounds like HR problem. I use to work in AGS and HR there are a nighmare to deal with it, totally incompetent and lazy, especially senior management there. What have the union said regarding the delay. I would get your friend to get back on to the Union.
Have they got their HEO/AP to raise it? Is it possible there has been some delay on the other side, like the person they are replacing has had a delay in transfer / has rescinded their retirement?
Do they know anyone in the new location that they could ask informally?
Sorry, only saw the replies now. I didn't get any notification on them..
So, the area they were offered had some retirements during covid lockdown. The people weren't replaced as the dept were all wfh. They returned to the office in Sept and are down 4 people due to retirement.
HR are (predictably) utterly useless. They have been onto an AP there without much success. The Union aren't really sorting it either. Full of false promises to talk to this one and that one, but nothing actually happening.
Anyone hear of any HEO or AO's getting mobility lately? I haven't moved spots in ages!
At this stage I might have to write to Santa to look for a move! lol
Yes, I am aware of 2 in my Department. One went last month to Transport, and another has been accepted but they haven't agreed release date, current department is looking to hold on to person until January.
I am the same. I'm a HEO and I haven't moved one single place since the scheme opened
It's my understanding you can apply for mobility right way even when on probabtion but you won't be eligble for 2 years, is that correct?
Correct
Does anyone know is AO Mobility moving again or is it still really slow ?
I hadn't hear that it stopped!
AFAIK AO and HEO are merged for mobility purposes, I'll happily be corrected if I'm wrong. There honestly seems to be very little movement since it launched - well in my area anyways. I'm hoping that the email that came out in January to confirm if you are still interested may take some out of the queue. I think we have till the end of the month to confirm if we are still interested in our mobility requests, hopefully the 1st week of Feb will see us move a few spots!
