Ya same here dirty job to take them out so they are agree re the draft the open fire used to be brutal
I'm convinced and thanks all for the insights.
Now for the oil boiler, rio3n boiler and burner, working fine, but are there more efficient available.
We did some work on our house 20 yrs ago, we had a kitchen 12 by 12 that you couldn't swing a cat inand a dining room 27 by 14 that was never used so we converted the dining room to a kitchen.
We had two big tables in the dinig room that were in the way. one my father called a wake table because when the leaves were folded down it was the right size for a coffin. they were full of woodworm and we were thinkiing of dumping them until our traavelling friends arrived one evening and gave us €10000 fro the ''wake'' table and 3000 for the dining room table.
But now I see what a wake table is worth

In my defense I could've bought a wake table for 1500 in an antique shop in Clifden shortly after selling my own
How did you know to ask 10000 if in the line before you said you were going dumping it. I'm sure they didn't start by offering 10000
He did and wouidn't move then. He just came is asking had we any old furniture, table came from my fathers home, there was a lovely sidebaord and two pianos as well and he honed in on the table. The other table was 16ft long when the four leaves were put into it and he wasn't bothered about that at all. It was a lot fancier then the wake table
Very seldom they play their hand so obviously
Thinking of getting MooCall calving, for anyone already with it, the annual subscription of €150 is that per device or over all moocall devices?
Ah but there's a big difference between asking 100k for a table and having 10k in your hand.
Very true, sure we were dleighted , the two tables paid for the AGA and the kitchen
Even the one further down the ad is looking for 45 grand
They bought a big antique table off a farmer beside us years ago. He got a pretty penny for it n apparently it went into some big financial office in London. God only knows what they charged the bigwigs for it!
Going to sheet an outdoor gate with stokbord, what's the best way to attach the stuff so changes in temperature don't have too much of an impact? Is the 3mm sheet good enough for the job? 6mm would add fair weight I think, I'd need a sheet and a half.
Bigger hole in board than bolt or tec screw, or else cable ties.
A couple of years ago my brother sheeted internal gates with 3mm stokbord & tec screws in the slatted unit but also did a South facing external gate. He left a few millimeters of a gap between the sheets to allow for expansion in warm weather.
Has anyone experience of putting a flue liner down the chimney of a 3 storey house. Built around 1800.
Is it a big old open chimney, or I'd it one that has sections
Try oriel flues in ardee they make them and you can deal direct with them. Get the heavy wall one. Might be no harm to get a cherry picker and inspect the chimney while you are at it. Our chimney needed new capping and pots so got the flue shoved down from the top.
The previous plumber got too short of a flue, shoved it up n where it ended it cracked the chimney. Lucky enough no to have carbon monoxide poisoning out of it!
Don't have any, but it is per device with 10% discount on additional devices.
Going sheeting some gates here too got the 3mm stuff as the other sizes not in stock wit FRS.
Thanks, we were thinking if this 1 went well to have 2/3 as occasionally we could have a few on similar time, 285-420 is allot of money
Yes, it's what's putting me off them, I don't have a large number of cows but last year I had a few nights with multiple births and more a day or 2 apart.
Wonder what the cost of the camera system with AI for monitoring cows is?https://www.herdeye.ie/
Last move of cattle this evening in the fading light. Unreal for us to have cattle out passed Halloween never mind them moving onto fresh grass on Nov 10th. Probably be housed in 5-7 days weather depending.
Teacher kicks horse. Discuss in 200 words or less.
Hertfordshire Hunt Saboteurs on Twitter: "Yesterday we filmed a @CottesmoreHunt rider kicking and punching her horse in the face. Watched on by lackeys Will Ashmore and son Ed. Violence running through their veins. @RSPCA_official https://t.co/s37BlR4Hv3" / Twitter
Absolutely no need for that. Have handled plenty of horses and never resulted to that.
no need for her actions but similarly no need for her name to be plastered all over social media and various news websites. sad reflection on the world we live in
There are 6 separate chimneys but fire is only ever lit in one - in a solid fuel stove.
Suggestion above re Oriel Flues in Ardee seems the way to go - chimney could be 'delicate' in places on the way up.
Obviously a job for experts.
What price is concrete roughly atm, might need 7-8 meters.

Horse racing news on Wednesday.
Raid on premises after intelligence reports.
Wasn't it some turn of events. You wouldn't script it, one day one thing, the next the other.
Had my first Covid test on Wednesday. The yoke up the nose is fair brain scratching. Negative text but off work and in bed with whatever cold I have. First sick cert in over 8 years.
Should finish this up.
I bought a mf240 today. Tried it first on the gateway and it turned in no trouble.
Few little things to be done before it arrives on farm. Bit of a sow to steer but it was better value and made better than a garden tractor that I'd have to consider otherwise.
Good man and well wear with it. Throw up a few photos when you have them.
Will do.
Not a bit of brand loyalty here. Galway tractor.
