Donnelly said they were last month: https://gript.ie/donnelly-hints-covid-power-extension-may-be-permanent/
and before the predictable Gript bashing (a mentality that is a consequence of there being no alternative media in Ireland) starts, there is a video in the article of him saying it.
Donnelly is saying it too: https://gript.ie/donnelly-hints-covid-power-extension-may-be-permanent/
Even Gript said "may be" in the headline.
When the conspiracists start to turn on Gript things are desperate.
His actual quote, show me where he uses the word permanent.
"He added that the government wanted to extend the emergency power “for a period of three months, without any regulations providing for restrictions on the indoor hospitality sector being imposed…"
"These are exceptional measures, whether they're temporary or not."
Well, when the msm ignores it then what do you expect people to do?
So he hasn't used the word permanent.
These measures may be needed in future for covid or whatever the next pandemic is.
But you STILL haven't explained why they would be permanent, what's the nefarious reason (in your mind) that they would need them to be permanent?
"Or not" is "permanent".
Are you calling Gript msm? When did that happen.
I may have misread your post. Did you mean "turning to Gript". You wrote "turning on Gript", but I figured you meant "turning to Gript".
No, it really isn't
Also you keep avoiding this part
you STILL haven't explained why they would be permanent, what's the nefarious reason (in your mind) that they would need them to be permanent?
No turning on Gript. Why are you disagreeing with it?
Im not turning on Gript. Okay, you mean the 'may' bit. I get you now. I don't agree that it's 'may be', but that doesn't mean I'm turning on Gript. I'm interpreting his words differently is all.
I'll come to that later. I read another hypothesis the other day.
No no, you've been posting here for months without answering the question so why not try answering it now? You can change it later if you wish but what has pushed you to post here and make these claims for so long? What was/is the reason?
Lol. Why are you going to "come to it later"?
You've been repeatedly asked the same question and you've avoided it every time.
It's been months and now you're saying you only just now heard a reason for it?
I assume that since you read it on Twitter by some crank you immediately swallowed it as true or immediately changed your entire belief because you liked it more.
I also suspect that you've been avoiding the question specifically because you aren't able to provide an answer to it. This really silly and childish tactic of "I'll get it later" is just more delaying and avoiding so you don't have to admit you can't answer it.
It's very pathetic and very funny you think you're fooling people.
A lot of the justification for restrictions has been that if it saves even one life then it is worth it.
Unless our leaders are prepared to eventually say no to such hysterical nonsense, then some form of restrictions will remain in place.
It’s certainly starting to look like masks and Covid certs will be here for considerably longer. They were already supposed to be gone.
"they were already supposed to be gone".
What a stupid statement to make with a straight face.
Are we talking about a sunset? Or a Swiss train?
No, we're talking about a virus. A widespread, evolving, dangerous virus. Thats one variable. We're talking about misinformation and disinformation and vaccine hesistancy. Thats another variable. We're talking about the development of the vaccines and their trials and their efficacy in different populations, yet another few variables.
Anyone with an ounce of reason and common sense can look at this pandemic and see its unpredictable, its elusive and it certainly doesn't follow anyone elses plan for it.
The Government had to make projections, a) to plan a strategy and b) to maintain hope and balance. There were never any promises or guarantees, just priorities and ambitions.
Nothing mattered more than keeping the health service from collapsing and thankfully it didn't - at least not so far. But thats no thanks to the brand of pea-brained w@nkers who would tell you black was white and that restrictions are permanent and that vaccines are dangerous.
Two people I know, a business owner in his early 60s and a chef, woman aged 49 won't touch the vaccine because they have come to believe the lies, despite the evidence (the real evidence) and the hundreds of millions who have received theirs without issue (including dozens they know personally). I would never have believed it of them, they are intelligent adults, and yet....
This disease was dangerous, but not half as dangerous as stupidity and irresponsibility.
At this stage. Anyone who thinks the government cares about their health is too far gone to save
more people died from missed hospital appointments than from covid
this forum has become a spoiler alert
I'm sure you have the data to back up this ridiculous claim?
"more people died from missed hospital appointments than from covid"
OK. So what's the real reason for masks to be permanent?
I too would also like to see your support for your claim.
It makes me laugh when I hear about masks being made permanent. Surely that goes against just about every nefarious social control out there? What good are security and facial recognition cameras if people are going around with masks on them? The easiest people to identify these days, when there's anti-social behaviour going on, are the anti-maskers.
Maybe all these conspiracy theorists are all paid shills to convince gullible people not to wear masks so that the government can use facial recognition on them.
Shur they'll hardly need facial recognition if you need a phone with a covid pass on it to leave the gaff..
Yes, it's not like Facebook or Google ever tracked anybody before Covid came along.

Do you think there's any possibility that the measures are permanent? Many ostensibly temporary measures have ended up being permanent. Do you think the idea of the measures being permanent should be discussed?
You obviously believe the measures are permanent. Can you explain why in simple English without a YouTube video, online article or tweet in sight?
Sure. Why aren't you discussing it though.
We keep asking you questions and you keep ignoring them.
For example you were asked (for the umpteenth time) why you believe masks will be permanent.
You said you'd answer this question. Yet now here you are trying to deflect and dodge again.
If you want to discuss it why are you avoiding this question.
Again I think its clear to everyone that the reason is that you can't provide an answer and you know you can't.
It's again really silly you guys think that your fooling anyone with these tactics.
It's like something a child would do.
Simple: it's happened many times in the past that ostensibly temporary measures ended up sticking around. Not once has anything been said in Ireland about going back to normal. All we've heard is 'a semblance of normality'. That means life with restrictions. The end dates for legislation and measures keep being extended. I believe they'll just become permanent and people won't notice because they'll have forgotten what life was like without them.
brianhere, in his remarkable opening posts, gives many examples of what were said to be temporary measures that ended up being permanent. The US is still under a state of emergency 20 years after 9/11.
