No one is going to publicly say what pub isn't checking for the vaccine passport and potentially get that business into trouble! 🙄
And you sound like great craic too. 🙄
Don't be a turnip, just get vaccinated.
If a regular poster called someone a twat, it would be actioned and warned. Pretty poor from a mod to come out with it. Maybe the person cant be vaccinated for any number of reasons that we dont need to know about.
You need to do better.
Fair enough if someone can't get vaccinated for genuine medical reasons but they still shouldn't be posting here asking for assistance with breaking the law.
Forgive my short fuse, I'm only human. Like everyone else I just want this pandemic to be over and so I've well run out of patience with anti-vaxxer types at this stage.
I agree. I'm fully vaccinated. And have no time for the anti side either. We dont know everyone's circumstances is all.
Didn't see the poster breaking the law by not being vaccinated, plenty of establishments around the town stretching their interpretation of guidelines well before covid and during
Supermacs at Dalys gone, presumably while they are working on the Drive through.
The 'ah shur everyone else is at it' argument...
Whats happening with the grand? Does anyone know?
Heard it was sold, Unconfirmed
Assets being split as part of a divorce apparently
Let me guess will be turned into apartments or hotel. Hope it stays the same, id imagine it's a gold mine.
Lot's of rumors going around as part of this. Unless something has changed, the Grand is owned by the operators mother rather than the operator himself, so there is nothing to split there. The place is just undergoing renovations and I believe the current plan is to re-open next month.
Be great to see it back open, many a good night had there. On another note, does anyone know what's happening to the space in between Brian James and Reidys? Passed it the last day and construction workers were gutting it
Do you mean the former Mac's restaurant? From what I have been told Pat Sheehan (Of Reidys) has taken over the lease on it, at least, that was the plan pre-pandemic, I have no idea if things have changed in the meantime.
Ya, that's the one. By the looks of things, Pat must be plouging ahead.
Hi lads,
If you find this off topic please put it in the right thread. I have a question re recent speed cameras installed all over Killarney. Do they operate in the same manner as speed vans i.e. flash for cash? Or is it just a deterrent forthe motorists to reduce speed in town? I enclose snap from whatsup. Thanks in advance for any explanations.
Well, if you don't speed it wont bother you.
Unless there's clear signage leading up to it, it's not a speed camera.
What that is, is a camera to see how many cars speed at a particular spot and the council and RSA will make additional traffic calming measures according to their findings.
One I can think of a few years ago was the camera up on Countess Road to get the same data and a few weeks later small speed ramps and a zebra crossing was installed on the road.
So it's not a speed camera where you get points a fine when you're speeding past it, it's just collecting data. But dont speed and you'll be fine.
Small building was/is owned by Quills, there was a tourist shop there for a few years.
Before that it was Twomeys Newsagents, Humphrey was the last owner
There was also some signs of work in the Paddywagon premises near that.
Can anyone recommend some kind of gym/fitness classes in and around Killarney for over 65s ?
B Well fitness are top class for all ages and abilities, owned and operated by Neilus Hayes and Edele Daly. They have Peter McCarthy working there as a trainer and he really is top class at what he does. I used him myself when I was coming back to fitness training after a bad sports injury and I piled on the weight. He is very patient and tailored everything to my needs.
Pop in and ask for Peter or Edele and either of them would be happy to help you. https://bwellfitnessclub.com/our-team/
Was out walking near Ross Castle.... what is story with those houses being built on right on way to Castle. They in shell format behind large wall but have a new entrance made for them. Are they for sale or all sold ??
The stage they are at now has been the stage they have been at for a few years - I can't rightly recall but I would say at least 2 years.
The only recent progress has been the new entrance.
I'm pretty much 100% that they haven't been sold/put on the market to the public.
There might be a chance that the developer who started the project might have sold the project onto another developer and that is why there is the new entrance.
I think [not certain though] that construction projects have a certain time limit before planning permission expires (and if it expires the developer has to go through the hassle & cost of getting it again) so that might be the reason behind the recent activity.
Maybe a search on the Kerry County Council website might yield more info ? Or one of the local auctioneers might know more.
Hi Lilac,
The gym I go to, Activate, has a "Masters" programme. Think it's the only one around that caters to this demographic that I'm aware.
Lovely gym, very clean, sound bunch that go there and an overall really friendly vibe to the place.
It's run by the physiotherapist that works out of there and he's a really sound fella so I'm sure you'd be in good hands.
go onto their scoria media or website: www.activate.ie to check them out.
The road is in a bad way around Major Colgans. It needs to be resurfaced something terrible.
Are any of the hotels doing entertainment/music after the 8pm pub curfew?
Yes. The section of the main road, from its junction with road up to Muckross Church out as far as the entrance to Muckross House could badly do with resurfacing. Would be a good time of year for it also with a bit less traffic around.
Hi, anybody know where i could get the number of social15? Cant find it anywhere online, lost something in there i think.
I'd message them on Facebook and Instagram. Be your best chance of contacting them
