Could you not wash the car near the house where there's amenities like electricity and a tap? 😜
Seems a bit odd to use a petrol power washer to clean an EV 😁
They are a lot more powerful but I often wonder of that's actually better. I'm probably being paranoid but I worry that hitting the paintwork with that force would do some damage eventually
One option is to put a rainwater harvesting barrel near where you wash the car, if it fills up over a couple of weeks then it should be enough
Ha, yeah, Petrol power to clean EV. Yeah just more convenient not having to use extension lead 😊
Barrel is a good idea alright, I don't have a barrel at all and I should have but in the Summer it would be difficult to keep it full.
I suppose the only really option for water then is to drag the hose all the way from the Pump House, it's the only external tap. Using submersible pump in the stream would still require power, could use that to fill a barrel.
I like this! Don't know if I could get it here or what price ? can't find anywhere that sells it here.
Got to agree, using a petrol-powered washer to wash an EV car is a bit of contradiction if you got your car for environmental reasons. If you didn’t, well that’s your choice.
Well yes and no, depending on the need, Petrol is handy when you don't want to mess with extension leads lol.
But in the link above the battery washer looks great if it can be got at a decent price, would be great if it could be got here at a decent price.
Does anyone else see this message when pressing the P button after a drive?
I’m seeing it since day one but never figured out what it means
Is Safelock not the door locks?
Think so but I’m not having any problems locking or unlocking.
I tried pairing the keys again by putting them in the cup holder, there’s something about that in the vehicle wallet/ manual but still seeing the message.
Yeah I see this message too.
Second part of update 2.3 has downloaded and I have started the installation by leaving and locking the car as per instructions on the screen. How do I know if it's installing? There is nothing on the screens. I remember seeing a couple of red icons on the screen when the first part was installing.
When mine was installing my app was dead, when it was finished it came live again.
My app seems to be working as well as it ever does
It's a while since mine was done, remember was a hot day and the window was open in my study. Heard a few load clicks from the car when was finished, cant remember how long it took, perhaps an hour and a half. Our 4G is strong. Try clearing app and see if it updates, you will see "Just now" below your name if app working again.
I don't think it's installing so. If it is installing, will it affect it if I open and get into the car? Thanks
I don't know to be honest. If you don't need the car leave for a few hours just to be on the safe side..
It is supposed to show a couple of red icons on the screen, as it did fir the first part. After another attempt, it's installing now.
It's a warning / reminder that locking your doors will activate your Deadlocks (Safelock), thereby locking-in anyone remaining in the car. Both the door’s and window’s unlocking/opening is disabled once Safelock is activated so you really don't want to do this if you are leaving somene in the car. Hence the Please Check Safelock message.
ID3 Tour in Stonewash Blue with a heat pump
Took a short trip today around 7 kms each way, battery was around 8 Deg C, battery heater kicked in pulling around 5 Kw and took roughly 10 mins to get to 13 deg C.
One of the temp sensors hit 13 deg the other one showed 9, it took a while to catch up. Got back home car sitting for most of the afternoon and went out again around 10 Km round trip, battery stayed around 12 deg, battery heater didn't come on again.
I didn't preheat off the mains, wouldn't do that anyway when I have so much range unless running low.
I know VW plan better battery temp management in future software versions, a battery conditioning option would be really good and a sub menu with fast charge preheat option to allow the battery to go the extra 12 Deg C required for proper fast charge from 12-24 Deg C.
3110 Kms on the car now!
Folks. Probably asked already. Can you turn off the traction control on an ID3?
Nope.
Thanks. Any idea why?
It's not a race/sporty car so I'd say they decided not to allow it.
edit: It's better to be on anyway for everyday driving. But it would be nice to be able to do doughnuts in a parking lot. Haha.
I dunno. Maybe they think we are too dumb to give us that control over 204HP on a RWD! 🤣
I think I did see something traction control related in a menu at one point but it did nothing. They have subsequently removed the button so maybe they will provide it at some point in the future via OTA... we are all hoping for alot from OTA!
Apparently it’s very easy to get stuck on a slippery surface. Car just won’t engage at all. Changes planned in version 3.
Thanks. I was thinking about icy roads in winter. Unusual not to be able to turn it off?
Would traction control not help in icy conditions?

interesting thread about it here.
See fits post. Open to correction though! Still can’t understand why they won’t allow it to be disabled.
It's not traction control you should be worried about on icy roads it's regen and it can be very dangerous/scary with RWD and icy roads as it can be like pulling the handbrake in an ICE car when you lift off the throttle so on icy roads make sure not to be in B mode or have that function is it eco assist ? that enables regen for you before junctions, roundabouts etc.
Driving on ICY roads in the BMW i3 was scary because of the one pedal driving.
