I didn't realise there was a bush near me until I saw the berries and then used an app to identify what they were.
Yeah, back up now. Thanks.
Just bought a bottle this minute after seeing the post above with the link. I had complete forgotten about it. Not sold out yet anyway
It's a sloe process.
thank you, thank you, I'm here all week...
Anyone manage to get the puca single pot still?
Thoughts on it if you have?
I'm traveling to Newry this Saturday on business
Where is the value in whiskeys up north? Well Newry in particular
Aldi in East Wall has a decent amount of both. Picked up the SPS just now but haven't tasted yet
Nice haul this evening! Four or so bottles of SPS left in Cobh.
Plenty of both in Aldi Edenderry. I picked up the single pot still. Looking forward to trying it at the weekend.
I might be in the minority here but i would buy a ‘heritage’ whiskey if it did include where the spirit was sourced from. I dont see what the issue is with saying where the spirit was made initially, there are really only a handfull of places anyway.
What is it like?
I generally don't buy whiskey without knowledge of the product
The Irish Whiskey Awards takes place on Nov 11th after being postponed to allow for a bigger attendance. I'm looking forward to finding out what samples are what. I may have a couple of them still left over to try 😎
Is anyone tuning into the online scotch whiskey awards that has been set up by youtubers this Saturday?
Anyone?
haven't tried it. Sure give it a lash and tell us what you think.
Decent, easy drinking if a little too sweet.
No Puca in Naas.
Did you ask a staff member? The cask finish was boxed and hidden under the checkout in our local aldi. You had to go to the checkout to find out if they had it and pay for it.
Selling extremely well, we're told!
A few bottles of both Puca offerings available in Celbridge. Look forward to trying the single pot still!
I have a bottle of the original Puca and have too many other unopened bottles so I'll pass this time. Good tip for others reading the thread though.
Sainsbury's do some great deals. Mainly Scotch obviously. Be careful as they have a lot of middling stuff that can catch you out. If you check their website below before you go you might get a better idea. There is a box to click for special offers too.
"Whisky | Spirits | Sainsbury's" https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/drinks/whisky--?fromMegaNav=1
Buffalo Trace at £18 versus €42 in Celtic Whiskey is good if you like bourbon.
Ardbeg Ten is currently £37 in Sainsbury's. Bargain!
Got my hands on one in Letterkenny. Looking forward to trying it on me birthday at the weekend.
Another whiskey in Aldi. On sale this Sunday. Description from the Wicklow Hills website below.
Wicklow Hills is a deliciously mellow and warming dram. Initial flavours of sponge candy, caramel and fruity notes are followed by a distinct toasted almond nuttiness.
Plenty of both Puca offerings left in Aldi Castlebar.
So the whiskey is clearly sourced but it gets its flavor from the family well.
sure it does.
Any scotch worth looking at? New to scotch btw
If I was to buy 3 bottles from that list I would pick Aberlour 12 £29, Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair £25 and Laphroaig Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 10 Year Old £28. Three great whiskeys and serious value compared to somewhere like Celtic Whiskey.
If you are new to Peated whisky the Laphroaig might be a bit extreme. Like all recommendations I'd read reviews about them first on somewhere like Master of Malt or Whisky exchange as what's good to me might be bad to you.
So I've had neither, but a mate is picking one of Dingle Batch 5 or Batch 6; which would ye go for?
