Well your comments certainly came across like SF changing some policies was a big deal for you.
I don't follow what any party says too closely. In my experience their actions often differ.
I'd lose respect for any party would get into bed with FF or FG.

I think your posts today might prob be best/kindly described as "contradictory" to say the least.
I mean people will get over the non jury court thing thing, there will come a time when SF will have to deliver. For example, just this week they are calling energy to be 0 rated for vat for the winter and they are claiming they will not only freeze rents but put an "extra months rent" into renters pockets. They are going to do all this without raising taxes on workers, families or the squeezed middle.
I mean if they can pull it off then fair play, but if they have all the answers now and don't deliver surely that will be the biggest betrayal to the followers old and new- they won't be able to blame "FFG" forever

SF are in a total bind, they will likely lead the next government based primarily on the housing farce. Actually contributing the the crisis now, perversely wins them more votes... BUT what happens when they are against sorting the issues that need sorting, when they get into government. Build cost, densities etc... They will have a term to get to grips with it or it will be FFG taking back power. thats the reality. That have positioned themselves nicely. But the country is on a knife edge due to lack of delivery on progress. Sf not delivering pretty quick, after decades of being hurlers on the ditch, could be explosive...

Why do you hold SF to different standards? Why do you think policy changes made by SF are detrimental to the drifting floating voters moved to them last election? Di you think SF's then stance on SCC gained them all the support? All parties change policies. Why do you take SF doing it as crossing a line, even some imaginary line?

What you suggest is very plausible! So SF wont come in, wave a magic wand and fix everything, we know that. But given that there is zero progress, if indeed things arent getting worse with housing, health etc. The public may well accept slow progress, rather than non at all. SF dont need to necessarily pull off something FFG have even come close to achieving over night. I just saw a FG post on facebook. Sean earns E25000 a year, he is now E125 a year better off after the budget. Its ridiculous propaganda, its true, if you dont think inflation matters, inflation is 5.1% currently, wiping E1250 a year from his purchasing power. FG themselves can absolutely be described as chancers, and economically illiiterate or just wanthing to mislead the public...
Huge amounts of young people and ireland has a very large young population, are facing ever decreased living standards. Let me assure you that by the next election, nobody is going to care about SF and their take on the special court etc. Who of the masses care? They absolutely will care about the situation the FFG farce has left them in...

It is Sinn Fein who hold themselves to different standards, and posters like yourself who claim that they will be different. The "power swap" are derided by some posters who are claiming lilywhite standards for Sinn Fein.
The fact is that the reversal on the SCC is only the start.
They gained some small support through their opposition to windfarms. It has taken them seven years to learn that is not a good look, another example of them being slow learners.
Taken to pieces on Newstalk this morning, the carbon tax climbdown is next.
The last time I recall such a fuss over wind farms, it had Varadkar/Donald Trump at the centre of it.
Sinn Fein possibly are trying to appear more "mainstream".
Yeap, don't forget that during the last election, Sinn Fein's climate proposals were by far the worst out of any political party. They were so bad that Greenpeace called them climate change deniers by proxy.
Not for the first time, they have been on the wrong side of the fence.
For me I see SF as currently the best chance for a government with no FF or FG. Not there yet.

If we get a SFF government, a new FF leader will be required. Not sure who that will be, but it has to be someone who wants to bring back FF's republican roots.

It is going to be the big problem for them at the next election. Once people hold their noses to get past the PIRA stink off them, and examine their environmental credentials, they will be exposed.
Opposing carbon tax, opposing high density housing, favouring one-off development in rural areas, opposing windfarms both onshore and offshore, wanting to zero rate fuel for VAT, the list of extremely bad SF environment policies is very long.
When in trouble, deflect to FG. Standard fare around here.
