Current Gen Hybrid inverters can output at 5kW but this is max, regardless of whether coming from live solar or battery or any combination of these.
Joy of the Sofar (which has nothing to do with PV generation, you could use is purely off the mains if you wanted - like we do in Winter) is that the discharge is in addition to current live solar e.g. sunny day and you are generating 5kW and someone turns on the electric shower then you can have 5kW solar + 3kW sofar.
Also, the Sofar can output higher than that if you change the settings.
Are their not 6kW hybrid inverters now? My inverter company has a 6kW model not sure it's available in Ireland yet and am sure people in quotes thread have mentioned 6kW (unless they were not hybrid)
I'm not sure e.g. the current Huawei is a 6kW hybrid but the max battery output is still 5kW (inverters also throttled by the max battery output also).
Perhaps there are 6kW Hybrid that can output 6kW from batteries, I didn't look it up to be honest
Solis 5G 6kw hybrid inverter.
Solis 6kW Hybrid is limited to 5kW output from battery, same as the 5kW Hybrid model. Would want a fairly big battery to be pulling 100A from.
Good point
But thats just the battery? Add 1kW PV to that and inverter can output 6kW.
And if you had two 5kW batteries would that not output the 6kW max of the inverter ?
Yeah a 6kW hybrid cant pass 6kW be it from batteries and solar.
The max the new solis can do is 5kW from the batteries. There is a separate inverter to discharge the batteries, and the max it can do is 5kW, Which is about 100amps DC.
remember the batteries are kWh not kW.
Standalone storage inverters that do 3kw are quite common, Sofar, Givenergy, Sonnen etc. 5kW are rare enough, SMA do one, the Sunny Island i think.
See specs here. https://www.ginlong.com/rhi_inverter1/1952.html
The inverter can only pull a max of 100A from the battery (5kW). That is irrespective of how many batteries you add.
Inverter can output 6kW if PV is adding an additional 1kW.
Just got a solar panel system installed yesterday. 7.52Kw system tied to a 6Kw Solis Inverter and 5Kwh Pure Drive battery. Has been a sunny day so liking the value of electricity produced today. However, I see that the inverter has read huge numbers for Total consumption and Total From Grid.
What would be causing this? Will it settle back down to normal figures in time or is there something wrong I should look to get fixed (See figure attached - this is after the panels being completed early this morning). Thanks!
700kWh consumed? Have you a grow house!
I'm assuming it's a Solis app error. Try the other Solis app, Solis Home to verify.
Solis Cloud is the best app, but there's been some glitches recently. None as wild as that mind you!
I had similar one day last week when the app reported I generated & consumed about 600kWh.
I had these crazy values as well as soon as I switched the PV on.
It was due to ancient firmware on the wifi/LAN logger stick.
Once Solis updated them it went down but you might need to ask them to delete the bogus data.
Just came back from a week away..
checked the meter before l left and when I returned… used 2kW of day rate & 6kW at night rate from the grid over 7 days….
Solar PV & battery for the win.
Cheers @SD_DRACULA
Is that an over the air update? Is there anything I need to do?
Another MyEnergi DST bug, in the app this time:
I had to get Solis to update it for me remotely
Anyone having any bother with their Solis Hybrid tripping its RCBO?
Mines tripped about 5 times in the last 2 months, twice in the last week.
Guys in tech support at wholesalers said it's a known problem something to do with abnormal sine waves and suggest replacing the 32amp RCBO with a 62amp or just an MCB but its non RECI compliant.
I may do something because its getting a bit annoying..
Is it load related? As in, does it trip with a specific load or can it trip at anytime?
The RCBO, while safer, makes diagnosing the issue more difficult, as hard to know if overcurrent or earth leakage fault.
What size inverter, array, battery etc?
Mine has a 32a and 40a in the consumer unit, no issues in about 6 months.
This is my system just now with the oven on…
Is there any reason why the battery (Puredrive 5kWh) is only discharging at just less than .5kW? I’ve never seen it discharging any faster than this…. I’ve a Solis hybrid 6kW inverter.
It's possible that stats are delayed by 5 mins. Go and look at the front panel of the inverter to confirm 100% what is happening.
And maybe turn on a ring or boil a kettle. An oven thermostat could have turned it off at that moment
Here’s a snapshot now with the oven off, the battery is still only discharging at .424kW and the rest of the house load is coming in from the grid…
How accessible is the inverter? If your watching the screen on the inverter it will remove any lag on the app.
yep, Solis app display is not live, and must be manually refreshed (even in the latest SolisCloud), inverter sends updated data every 5mins to the cloud servers, that can't be changed in the inverter afaik.
seems odd as the increased demand shows up on the app, but the battery discharges at a max rate of 424 watts!!!
next time I turn on a power hungry device, I’ll go up and check the inverter screen to see if the battery discharge rate is higher that 424 watts..
Strange one. Check the discharge rate on the Solis inverter is set correctly as something is not right
Call your installer, there is a wrong setting on the inverter. Its can be missed in a new installation. A simple mistake.
I’ll have a read through the inverter instruction manual, as I’m sure I could adjust the setting myself once I know where to find it.
