Looks like the momentum in the county championship has firmly swung towards the clubs, based on this weekend's results, with Stacks, Rahillys, Crokes, Legion, Dingle and Templenoe all making the QFs. Brendans did knock out Kenmare, but it would be a brave punter who'd bet on them breaking their championship duck, though South Kerry will pose a firm challenge for anyone in this evening's draw.
Legion v St Brendans
Dingle v Kerins O'Rahilly's
Templenoe v Dr Crokes
Austin Stack's v South Kerry
Some cracking matchups.
Fancy Brendans, Narries, Crokes and Stacks.
As a Churchill man, certainly hope you're right there!
South Kerry arent a patch on previous years teams,I was amazed at some of the lads that made their starting lineup considering some of the club games I have seen this year, I think Stacks will take them handy
Brendans, Dingle, Crokes and Stacks
Anyone know the young Stacks defender who is having a monster year? I didnt get to see the game v East Kerry as I was working but I've heard he did a fine job on Clifford?
Don’t know but highlights of the game on TG4 tonight at 8pm.
Yeah I have it recording but they're very basic highlights of scores usually.
Was hoping someone might have been at the match to give an opinion on him. Lord knows we could use a few defenders coming through.
The match report says Jack O Shea got man of the match from corner back so maybe it was him?
Dylan Casey. Also marked Sean O’Shea in the club final. His last year u20 was in 2020 so he’s only 21 now.
Mighty. May his upward trajectory continue. I'll keep an eye on him now I have a name. Ty
No problem. I think there are a good few backs who Jack should look at. Casey is one. Okunbor if he can do well in a few club games. Dan O’Donoghue wasn’t liked by Peter Keane for some reason I don’t understand but I think he’s a great option. Daniel O’Brien Glenflesk I’ve always rated highly and he’s been injury free for a good period now and played for East Kerry last Saturday night.
A question. Was talking with someone the other day about lads who played with Kerry during the 2000s who went off the radar, A big one was Paddy Kelly from Ballylongford/Mitchels,Listowel. What actually ever came of him? He would have been young enough when he finished up with Kerry.
Are the games being streamed this weekend?
He is in the US as far as I know or he definitely was anyway. Ended up playing for the highest bidder over there. Dunno if he still plays, must be close to 40 now
..
Great win by Strand Road, very impressive
Pity they cant stream the Brendan's and Legion game.
Similar to David Culhane. Another Bally lad. Couldn't accuse them of being good club men.
Tralee seems to be waking up, Strand Road in the semi final, Stacks looking strong, The Brendan's also in the semi final and Na Gaeil in the Intermediate Final.
Stacks duly oblige - semi-final draw to be held during the 8.30 sports bulletin on Radio Kerry.
Told ye about Stacks, pity Dingle fcuked my accumulator
...
All games went as expected this weekend.
St Brendan's look like the weakest of the 3 teams with their forward line.
The draw will be very interesting.
Semi Final draw made this morning
St Brendan's V Austin Stacks
Kerins O Rahilly's V Dr Crokes
Games to be played Nov 20th/21st
Knockout championship seems to have suited club teams, 3 out of the semi-finalists. When did Rahilly's last win it?
The overall standard of the senior championship this year has not been at the level of previous years. Rahillys and Brendan’s have been very lucky with the draw. Crokes seem to have turned things around with their drubbing of Templenoe which will be the main worry for Stacks winning it out. Stacks are on a great run from the club championship, the question is can they keep it going until the final or will they run out of steam. Tralee football may have marginally improved but the reality is East Kerry, Crokes and South Kerry have gone backwards allowing them to catch up. Stacks have been the best team so far with a tough draw each round and should get the win against St Brendan’s. Crokes will most likely beat the narries. A Stacks v Crokes final is good for the promotion of the club game in Kerry. It will also showcase a few new players for Jack to consider for the Kerry seniors.
2002, I think?
Did he play with New York at some point?
He was a fella i always thought should have been given more of a chance. Was good with the Juniors anytime i seen him.
Is pat Spillane son good enough for a Kerry call up?
He has had 1 good game at senior club level. Let's not lose the run of ourselves.
If he puts in another MOTM performance in the final and kicks on again next year, maybe he would be in the discussion then but not after 1 game.
Did he play any underage for Kerry minors etc?
