Just wondering once you have completed everything and get the call how much notice do you have to give to your employer or what way does it work? I don’t plan to tell my boss anything until I’ve passed all stages, I don’t know if I should let them know after this or after the actual phonecall to start GV?
The notice you give your employer is nothing to do with the PSNI, it's down to your employer and what is in your current contract of employment
It also depends on whether or not u have provided your employer's details for reference purposes. I know i did and hence, i informed them because i did not want them to get out of the blue an email from the psni requesting refs for me :) But yeah, as DDGS7 says, it all depends on what notice you are supposed to give to your employer as per your contract of employment. Good luck.
Yes I do know it’s nothing to do with the PSNI for what notice I give my employer - I was asking when you get the phonecall from the psni if you have to give say a months notice to your employer will they start you in GV once that is done or are you expected to start straight away?
I think they give you a start date during the call. Then you take from that when to hand your notice in…like say you get it tomorrow you’d be given roughly 6 weeks until your start date - you could then give a 4 week notice period to work. Though all in all, you’d be leaving regardless so if your employer expects more than 4 weeks and you start in 6 then that’s a discussion to be had when you do hand your notice in.
I've probably more hope of the second coming of Christ than getting any correspondence back from them at this rate. One year of waiting for vetting in progress …
Omg one year for the vetting? Have you tried to contact anybody to see what is going on? I would be checking it hasn’t got lost?!
They don't tell you anything, you only get "it's processing". They will tell you nothing else. It's a great system where they won't tell you anything about your own personal details.
Website updated
143 have withdrawn or failed
526 going through managed stages
311 have been appointed or accepted offers
Going by the numbers I'll hopefully be appointable by November and maybe get into the January take. Anyone appointable waiting long? Or how long have you been waiting?
Long Time Lurker! This board has been great! I was waiting on my medical outcome, that passed on Tuesday and got a call this morning for a Reserve Spot in December, merit number 410-440 if that's any use
Yes very helpful thanks very much, I'm close to those so hopefully jan/Feb
Got the call on Monday for start date in December, ml 400-410 and had everything passed from 17th September.. so apppointable for just over a month before getting call!
Is there anything that you think may be holding your vetting back?
I've a funny feeling mines is going to take longer than most also. :(
How long yours been away? What makes you think that? Tried to pm you
I've heard folks that have been traveling, lived in multiple areas, or have been in the armed forces struggle to get it back quickly due to waiting for other forces to confirm things.
Does that include family members who have been in armed forces?
I tick 2 of these 3 boxes and I'm waiting 33 weeks so it would make sense
I have family members in it and didn't seem to hold mine up, think the addresses are the big thing. If you've been to Asia or Australia could be a nightmare getting that force to clear you
New recruitment drive out for the job. Is anyone who is still going through managed stages putting an application in? I don’t understand why they have opened again knowing there are 500 odd people ready to be appointed. Makes me think I might not get a place 😩
On the contrary I'd say. Why put so many from this campaign through to bin them off in favour of people on the new campaign? It'll be a case of there's a place for everyone who passed all stages from both campaigns
Try now. I have changed my settings. 👍
How long did most people’s vetting take to come back? Mine has been away since the beginning of September and it’s driving me mad waiting 😆 they credit checked me a few weeks ago
I think on average around 3 months. Mine came back just under 3 months.
also does anyone know, does your induction come after you get the call or do you have an induction and then wait for a call for a start date? On average how long after medical has an induction date been for people?
thanks 😊
When you get the call you will be sent details of when your induction will be
When u get the call they tell you what your start date is (usually 6 weeks away) and when your induction will be (usually a month before your start date. I was appointable nearly 3 months before i got the call. Hope this helps.
Hi
Who on here is still waiting on vetting to clear and how long has it been?
I will start it off me and 19 weeks
I am still waiting on vetting to clear, mine has been away 7 weeks! Have you been credit checked yet?
Yeah was done middle of July same day o got email asking for more info.
Have you?
Yes mine was checked 5 weeks ago but have heard nothing since. Haven’t been asked to provide anymore info either. A girl on my PCA said hers came back after a week.
Think it Varys person to person. I just got mine through this week, approx 3 weeks total. Was expecting a lot longer considering how long others have been waiting! Hopefully clears for you soon.
